Have you ever been listened to in a way that changed everything? I know I have.

Earlier this summer I went on a small road trip with my elder Rita. As usual we seamlessly changed between tears and laughter, conversation and silence. At one point I shared about something in my life I'm not at peace with. She listened until I was finished and then mirrored back the heart of what I just said in one single sentence. I straight away broke into tears, being moved by her truth speaking and by feeling fully seen. As if that wasn't enough yet she added a remark pointing out how one of my core qualities is all over this story, empowering me in a challenging situation. You won't be surprised if I tell you there have been more moments of peace for me since.

Maybe you've received this seemingly magical way of being listened to as well. When you've done a sitout of sorts you might have gotten your story mirrored back to you in a way that starts to extract the experience's essence. Or, if you're lucky, you've experienced these moments with a friend, lover, family member or colleague.

The great news is that you too can listen in this personal way that draws on the full intelligence of who you are and offers a big gift to the person who is on the receiving end. Coming autumn I am offering a mirror training in the Swiss Jura mountains together with Carine Roth. It will be a beautiful opportunity to immerse yourself in the power of stories harvested in nature and deep listening.

THE ART OF MIRRORING
18–22 November 2026 - Switzerland

During this four-day workshop, running from Wednesday evening to Sunday afternoon, we will explore the art of mirroring and deep listening.

Every day we will go out into nature to seek out stories and bring them back to the group. And together we will learn how to become experts in the art of listening to and reflecting the ‘medicine’ – the power – of a person’s story, of an era, or of a species.

Since time immemorial, human beings have made sense of the world through the stories they tell and pass on. What remains of a life if not a story?

And sometimes, the only thing that can help a person is a story.

Are you interested in delving into the depths of myths and the teachings of Nature?

What to expect

This programme combines time in nature, thought-provoking stories, the art of mirroring and the practice of Council. Through teaching circles, moments of solitude in nature and Councils where stories are shared, you will explore and develop a personal way of listening that draws on the full intelligence of your body, psyche, mind and soul.

Our stories, and the way we express them, lead us towards active participation in life, with a sense of courage, determination, the will to overcome difficulties, and to reach beyond our own limits. by @carine_roth
