Painting the Soul of Galicia 🌊✨ For my first commission with @beyondwordsretreats , I wanted to create something that truly captured the heart of the region where your next adventure will unfold. After doing my own research and conversations with proud locals from Galicia, this piece came to life. Here is the story behind every symbol: 🐙 The Octopus (Pulpo á feira): You’ll find this dish in almost every corner of Galicia. It’s not just food; it’s a symbol of the region’s generosity and its deep connection to the Atlantic coast. 🍺 The Estrella Galicia: A local beer that’s become a beloved ritual. It represents the fun, the social warmth, and the simple joy of sharing a moment with new friends. @estrellagalicia 🐚 The Scallop Shell (Vieira): Galicia is the final destination of the Camino de Santiago. The shell is the ancient symbol that marks the path and welcomes pilgrims from around the world. It reminds us that this journey is about connection, direction, and finding your way. 🧜🏻‍♀️ ⭐️ The Mermaid and the Star: This is the most magical part. The Sirena de Castelao (Mermaid) and the star are iconic elements of the Galician flag. They represent the Galician language (galego), our unique identity, and the enduring pride of a people who have fought to keep their culture and tongue alive. For a language retreat, these symbols are the perfect reminder that we are here to speak, listen, and celebrate the voice of Galicia. --- Beyond Words hosts immersive language retreats in the less explored corners of the countries they visit. They don’t just visit; they live the culture, learn the language, and connect with the community. Creating this piece was a truly enriching process. May this be the first of many collaborations! 🗣️ Language enthusiasts: Follow @beyondwordsretreats for tips on immersive learning and to be the first to know about our future editions in many other countries! #BeyondWordsRetreat #Galicia #PulpoAFeira #CaminoDeSantiago #EstrellaGalicia by @carioca.lia
