Major League DJz dump. I wasn’t sure I’d feel the need to see them a second time in a week after their excellent set at @shambhala_mf, but as the weekend approached I had the itch. I’m so glad I went. The show was very well put together by @keystothecityentertainment and leaned heavily on the spectacular rooftop venue and a slew of local talent I had yet to experience. In addition to seeing @majorleaguedjz in a third unique setting (I caught them on their previous Canadian tour), I got to hear a good mix of fresh tunes and classics from when I first discovered amapiano. Special thanks to @nickdegree for heating up the dance floor as the sun was setting (and for reminding me how much I regret missing DJ Lag at Bass Coast 2023), @lordhauser for helping me out with a last-minute ticket, and @kiana.short for a spot to drink cold beer in the shade for the hottest part of the day. by @carl_ayer

Casey Club dump, a week later. I didn’t get to @shambhala_mf early enough to catch @caseyclubofficial. Even if I had, I’m not sure I would have been able to resist seeing them at @99tenyeg with @denenenen and @dabbledoom opening. Thanks for another great show, @umbralsoundsystem! by @carl_ayer

@basscoastfest was a vibe! I spent most of my time caught up in the moment, so please enjoy this haphazard collection of nonsense. Diverse musical selections covered every combination of catchy and challenging, most notably @handsome.tiger getting a crowd of thousands dancing to gqom and @djrosapistola blaring automotivo to an unsuspecting but appreciative crowd, plus multiple sets with a smattering of breakcore and post-garage. Thanks to my friends, old and new, who made the weekend so special. by @carl_ayer

Our apple tree produces some of the best apples I have ever eaten. Unfortunately, around 3/4 of them dropped as mediocre-to-inedible windfall. I’ve participated in baking in the past, but this might be the first time I’ve done anything resembling baking (does crumble count?) entirely solo. @carrrrrrrooooo suggested that I measure with my heart. The experience suggests that my heart does not, in fact, want to go on. Cardiac grievances aside, it’s a solid 6.5/10. by @carl_ayer
