Bristol Central Constituents! I want to take your renting experiences to the Prime Minister.

The latest figures show that Bristol has overtaken Greater London as the least affordable place to rent in the UK.

Something needs to change.

So, today I’ve launched the Bristol Central Renters Survey to get hard data on the reality of renting in our city.

If you have 5 minutes to spare please follow the link in my bio so I can gather as much data as possible on private renting in our city. The image has a picture of Carla on the right hand side with the Clifton Suspension Bridge in the background. Superimposed on the image is a clipboard that reads 'Bristol Central Renters Survey 2026'. At the bottom of the image it says "I want to hear from you" by @carladenyer

Essential council services in Bristol are struggling because we have one of the lowest levels of government core funding per person of the large English cities.

The PM might talk about growth in every postcode, but we need action.

The Chancellor must urgently address this in the budget. Picture shows a letter to the Chancellor from Carla Denyer which reads:

Dear John Healey MP

Re: Funding Bristol's essential local services.

This month I met with staff and councillors at Bristol City Council to discuss the funding of
essential local services. Bristol City Council is at present struggling to resource many essential
services because of the lack of funding they receive from central government.

There is a £122 per person gap in average Core Spending Power between Bristol and the Core
Cities average, highlighting a significant disparity in the funding available to support residents and deliver local services compared to other Core Cities such as Manchester.

In my role as Member of Parliament for Bristol Central I hear from thousands of constituents
relaying their distressing experiences of underfunded services affecting their quality of life.

Your government's Local Government Finance Settlement increases dependence on Council
Tax and locally retained Business Rates, placing the burden on residents of Bristol already
struggling with the tightening of belts in the cost of living crisis. The buck cannot stop with the working people and businesses of Bristol Central.

I understand Bristol City Council has asked your government to increase Bristol's core funding
by at least £80 per resident to begin to help us catch up with the provisions of other Core Cities.

I implore you to listen. Growth in every postcode will only be possible if your government takes action and pitches in.

Yours sincerely,
Carla Denyer MP

Preventing our climate from becoming more extreme means leaving fossil fuels in the ground. No new drilling in the North Sea. A quote graphic with a title that reads "No new drilling in the North Sea" with a picture of an oil / gas rig in the background and a quote attributed to Carla Denyer MP for Bristol Central that reads "It’s extraordinary that our Energy Secretary has spent her first months turning over a decision on a new gas field which is obviously a terrible idea. Preventing our climate from becoming more extreme means leaving fossil fuels in the ground. New drilling at Jackdaw will have no meaningful impact on the UK’s energy security and do nothing to lower bills.
We need our energy secretary focussed on what will actually make a difference: a rapid switch to clean energy.” by @carladenyer

Do you rent privately in Bristol Central?

There are just THREE days left to fill out my Bristol Central Renters Survey.

I want to hear what private renting is like for my constituents and to know if you feel better off since the Renters Rights Act came into force.

I’ll be taking all the information I gather in this survey into Parliament to help make the case for *real* breathing space for renters.

Remember to share your experiences by 11:59 PM on Friday 16th October.

Labour seems poised to repeat the mistakes of the last energy price crisis if they cut the funding that would help families choose fossil free heating for their homes.

We cannot afford to plunge the sector into uncertainty and risk stalling the growth in heat pump installations just when we need them most to meet our legally binding climate commitments.

Instead, Greens call for a local authority-led, street-by-street retrofit programme to insulate our homes and upgrade to cleaner heating that doesn't leave families exposed to volatile gas prices. Picture shows a graphic of Carla Denyer with a speech bubble that reads:

"Only the Green Party has the policies to address inequality, through taxes on wealth; tackle the cost of living crisis with rent controls and raising the minimum wage; and fight climate breakdown through a nationwide home insulation programme and turbocharging renewable energy generation" - @CarlaDenyer Conservatives: for billionaires, inequality, and environmental damage

Carla Denyer
MP for Bristol Central

“Today Kemi Badenoch once again defined the Conservative Party as pro-billionaires, pro-inequality and pro-damaging the environment.”

“However much money you throw at it, you cannot have national security without action on the climate crisis. You cannot make this country fairer while you continue to favour the super-wealthy over ordinary working people, and you will not help young people into work by removing worker protections and support.”

“Cutting inheritance tax, cutting welfare and reigniting a new round of austerity reminds us that this is a party working for the wealthy few, not the majority.”

Departing soon from Heathrow's new third runway...

More climate breakdown. More job losses. More air pollution.

More runways won’t make life better for ordinary people. So, why is this still on the agenda?

📩 Email your MP and tell them to say NO to Heathrow’s third runway. Link in bio by @carladenyer

The ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion has passed at Green Party conference. While there are many parts of the motion I can agree with, there are some that I could not, so I did not vote for it.

I want to reassure all my constituents, Green members and voters, that as Greens, we will always uphold universal human rights.
We will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.
We will continue to stand in opposition to genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and the illegal occupation.
We will continue to call out the heinous crimes of the Netanyahu government.
And we will continue to work to ensure that the Green Party is an anti-racist party in every way.

We know there is no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people.

To Jewish members of the Green Party:

The motion proposers made clear in the debate that they have no intention for Jewish members to feel targeted for their beliefs or associations. If anyone does try to use it in this way, I will be there for you with my solidarity and support. by @carladenyer
