January tells our story. 💗💚

From celebrating January 15th Founders’ Day to honoring Incorporation Day today, January 29th — this month is ours. The vision became official, and then sisterhood became rooted in perpetuity.

Our MLK Day of Service was all about community impact — showing up for Houston the way we’re called to. My eXtrAOrdinatory @xialphaomegaaka chapter empowered families with entrepreneurial-themed seminars, assembled 300+ CHIPP Power Packs for HISD students, and loved on our environment through shredding and recycling.

Amanda Edwards and @cdmenefee_ pulled up and spoke about the January runoff. If you’re in the Historic 18th District, GO VOTE!!

The pham also showed up to honor Dr. King at our MLK Bootcamp benefiting @thel1foundation.

Q2 | A View & Adieu. A look back before looking ahead.

1. “I forgive myself for shrinking to fit into boxes that do not belong to me.”
2. Resurrection Sunday at Wheeler with my L1 family, celebrating and witnessing Zoey’s baptism.
3. Project Prom—helping make prom a memorable experience for HISD students.
4. In honor of National Volunteer Month, the L1 Foundation assembled 1,015 snack packs for Bastian & Whidby Elementary scholars during STAAR testing.
5. The Stop the Silence Breast Cancer Awareness Walk brought together friends, family, and hometown heroes.
6. Springfest with Alpha Eta Lambda.
7. Twice tested. Twice victorious. My dear friend’s testimony inspired every table at the Joe Niekro Foundation Brain Aneurysm Gala.
8. Co-emceed the Volunteers in Public Schools Awards, and even more special, my chapter received the Jean Davis Myers Service Award.
9. Celebrated our Junior League of Houston Leadership Institute Training (LIT) cohort’s accomplishments. Looking forward to all that’s ahead for us.
10. Attended the STEAM Town USA Graduation with fellow Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Education Committee members.
11. Served alongside chapter members as we recognized Jones Futures Academy students for their civic engagement and first phone bank initiative.
12. Michael. A special screening and Q&A with Kendrick & Dominique.
13. My mom was blessed to see another birthday. 74 incredible years.
14. Love brought the LSU family together for Boobie & Catera’s wedding.
15. The L1 Foundation proudly sponsored a hole at the NSN Golf Tournament.
16. Celebrated Ms. Chilond and bonds that stand the test of time.
17. My brother would’ve turned 52. Forever missed. Forever loved.
18. Celebrated Cherrelle and 40 years of NFBPA. You did that, sis.
19. Happy Birthday, Mav! Forever grateful for you!!
20. Attended the UH Black Heritage Brunch where Ron Green and Taylor Brione were honored. So deserving. by @carldeon_flows

One day wasn’t enough, so somehow this birthday turned into a season. At this point…u know what’s up. 😎

IYKYK, my birthday is bittersweet, as it’s a day I once shared with my second oldest brother. Every year, I carry both gratitude and remembrance in the same space.

So, to those who encouraged me to get out and celebrate, thank you. To those who checked in, shared sweet messages, and wrapped me in love, thank you. Grief is unpredictable, unruly, and arrives in waves when you least expect it. I’m grateful for the people who help me navigate it with grace.

To my “Rallying Rangers:” the way y’all let me bounce around a million last-minute ideas and then showed up & out with little notice? Elite. Love y’all deep, deep.

And thank y’all for your patience as I worked my way through every call, text, DM, comment, and story reply. The love did not go unnoticed, and it was important to me to personally acknowledge each of you.

My heart is full. 💕🥹🫶🏼🥰

First @southcentralaka SCRC, and I’m still taking it all in 💗

I was so overwhelmed with gratitude being in spaces I once dreamed of, and even more overwhelmed by the sheer love, sisterliness, excellence, and R.E.A.L.ness all around me 💕💚

And my eXtrAOrdinary chapter? I’d say let me brag on my chapter, but the awards will do that:

Also, it was so special watching my sisters @crellespeak and @slimfit_teedot accept their well-deserved awards. I’m so proud and inspired by the work you—and so many other sisters—are doing across SCRC. The region is in great hands 💚

And with that, congratulations to our MRD @drshawnes on her re-election!! We’ve got your back and are ready to keep pushing the work forward these next two years 👏🏼🙌🏼💗
