Wednesday, October 15 marked my final volleyball game — the end of a journey that began when I was just eight years old. The sport that has shaped so much of who I am. Volleyball has been my constant through the highs and the lows, the victories and the losses, the injuries I pushed through and the new ones that tested me in ways I never expected. The past few years have been unforgettable—winning the OVC multiple times with my incredible teammates, earning awards, and simply doing what I love alongside the people who’ve been by my side through it all. This season didn’t end the way we had hoped, but even in disappointment, there were so many new friendships, moments of growth, resilience, and memories i’ll carry forever. Most of all, I got to share it with my girls—the teammates who have been with me through every drill, every practice, every game, every summer workout, and every laugh, some of whom I’ve known practically my whole life. I couldn’t have done any of this without the unwavering support of my coaches who challenged and always believed in me, my parents for being my #1 supporters and biggest role models through it all, my friends who celebrated the wins and comforted me through the losses, all my family that would try and make it, my boyfriend for also being one of my biggest supporters and traveling no matter what even to games that I barely played in because of injuries, and my school, Fairland, for providing the team, the opportunities, and the community that made this all possible. Walking off the court for the last time as a senior, I feel a mix of pride, gratitude, and cherished moments, knowing that volleyball may be ending for me, but the memories, lessons, and bonds I’ve made here will stay with me forever.
