One morning as I was trying to do my quiet time, my phone kept beeping with Whatsapp notifications of my kids’ school groups, the church worship band group and social media notifications and I just felt so overwhelmed. I remember thinking, “I don’t need more of this, I need a whole lot less”. It felt like all these things were just taking me away from the important things - spending time with God and making space for my family.

I realised even good things can come in the way of our time with God and take our focus away from what He really wants us to do. So, I made a decision right there and then to take back focus and even if it’s just for half an hour a day to switch off my phone so I can be fully present when I have my quiet time.

I try and start my day by asking God what He wants me to prioritise, because if I had to just spend my day reacting to messages I would never do the important things but only what other people fill my day with. I don’t always get it right, but it’s helped a lot to be more intentional about this. I hope this song is a reminder how easily we can become reactive to the world around us instead of finding our purpose and sense of direction from God. May it bless you!

It’s the third week of January and it already feels like I’m strapped in on a precarious box cart hurtling down a rocky hill with no brakes! I wrote “You give me rest” as a prayer asking God for the rest only He can give. May you experience that today as you sit at His feet and take a moment to be quiet.

Yesterday I had the privilege of leading a music service in Mölltorp, sharing parts of my story through songs and my testimony. 🤍

The theme was “From sorrow to praise — and a praise that continues when new trials come.” I also shared parts of my “From the Ashes” devotional.

It was the first time I got to sing “It’s OK to be broken” live, just a week after its release. 🥹

So grateful for the opportunity to share music, my story, and what God has carried me through. 🙏🏼

This one’s been a long time coming, but today I can finally share my next single, “It’s OK to be broken” — from my upcoming EP. 🥹

This song was inspired both by my work as a family therapist and by my road back to working after having a stroke.

I had the great joy of writing it with my dear friends @zeldanerahutzenbeler and @carli.lessing , who also produced the song. I’m so proud of the amazing work they did! 🙌🏼

There’s a reason the cover art is a photo of an iceberg, and I’ll share more about the story behind the song in a coming post. But at its heart, the message is this: there’s so much more to a person than what we see on the surface. It’s OK to be broken. And even when other people don’t understand, God does. He sees it all. He loves you, and He never leaves your side.

Carli, Zelda and I pray that this song will touch your heart and encourage you, just as it has encouraged me throughout my own recovery. 🙏🏼

Ever felt like hiding away after making a mistake and that God could never forgive you? I have. But God is so good, once we’re in the orbit of His love He doesn’t let us go. Jesus paid for all our mistakes and we never have to hide away again.
