You are raising forward.

There is no generational cushion.
No one to pass tradition through.
No one to call when you doubt yourself.
You are building something without the blueprint you expected.
And sometimes that feels powerful.
But sometimes it feels unfair.
Because you did not choose this version.
You would have chosen shared birthdays.
Shared advice.
Shared relief.
Instead you carry the emptiness quietly.
You smile in photos.
You function in raising your kids the best you can.
You do what needs to be done.
But in the small hours you feel the gap.
And loving your children deeply does not erase it.
