an ode to tap dance💗 Happy National Tap Dance Day🪩 (and happy birthday to the late great Bill Robinson) This style of dance has been with me the longest and remains my favorite throughout everything I've learned. 1. Starting with an improv session from yesterday in my @laducashoes heels to "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by The Temptations 2. Then I go back to when I really found my love of tap at my home dance studio @dancexplosionaustin with the amazing @britsheachoreo 3. Do not miss those slip on shoes haha. 4. My love grew with me and I started training at @zachtheater (featuring @sloane.juliana @blakeney.mahlstedt and @alexa.godwin) 5. At Zach I had the opportunity to learn from @dretorres14 who gave me my first ever lessons on the history of tap dance 6. Brief interlude of @lilahguaragna and I's silly choreo session 7. Dre choreographed this sick number to Ease On Down The Road from The Wiz for a @zachppc showcase that never came to be #covidyear 8. So I got a new tap board for home and tap danced at the park and in my garage! 9. Then college!! The first time I took my shoes to the studio I felt rusty and overwhelmed, so I revisited the sequence Dre taught to Bring In Da Noise Bring In Da Funk and worked from there adding in my own spice. 10. Interlude of choreo session with @benjamin__hoermann 11. Went to see Dre in "Chasing Magic" at The Joyce and met @ayolives but somehow didn't get a pic w Dre oopsies 12. Started taking class with @jumpsuitalex !! This is when petal hit the metal (or metal hit the marley hehe) and I started really honing my craft. I loved these classes:) featuring @carolineldesmarais 13. First ever class at @stepsonbroadway !! It felt so nerve wracking transferring to class in the city, but now I do it every week and I love it. 14. And that brings us back to present day with a video from class a couple of weeks ago. I am continuously amazed and inspired by the artists around me.
