I couldn’t resist a sappy volleyball post as my time at Mercer Beach Volleyball comes to an end. This journey started long before I got to Mercer, honestly way back to playing on the tennis courts wanting to be a D1 athlete like my dad. The work leading up to this dream has never been easy, suffering an ACL injury at a pivotal point in my recruiting journey just to name one (real ones know the countless other factors). But it taught me work ethic and has led me to the most important people in my life. Choosing this sport has been wholly transformative and I wouldn’t be who I am today without everything that has come with pursuing this dream. Then it came to actually living the dream that I had worked my whole life for. The price payed for the most loyal, genuine relationships I have made across my journey here was steep, but it was worth it. I may have not had the most flashy career or broke any records, but that’s never been the point for me. I love this sport, I love this community, and I love how I have gotten to learn from all my teammates about traits I strive to emulate within my own character. The lessons I’ve learned are invaluable, and the experience I’ve had I wouldn’t trade for the world. Getting to end my career clinching the 6-7 bowl as a DEFENDER behind Finley with my brain rot team is the most on brand, poetic ending that I needed to become at peace with my journey. As always go bears, and watch out Intramurals here I come!!! KING (and CBC) OUT✌🏼 by @carlylenhardt
