Complexity is distracting.

Expensive equipment, fancy exercises, endless variations - none if it replaces smart, critical thinking in rehab planning.

♦️Coach the key movement patterns
♦️Adjust the right variables at the right time (range of motion, load, speed, perturbations)
♦️ Mirror sport-demands as closely as possible

The question isn’t whether or not the wheel works. The question is, how many ways can we use the wheel to reach our goal?

We get asked all the time - “what’s it like working with your partner?”

For us, blending our professional lives early in our careers was a no-brainer. Our shared vision, trust, and dedication make day-to-day operations fun & easy (ish). We play on one another’s strengths and pick up where the other falls short.

Parenthood has taught us teamwork, and that’s the same energy we bring to the clinic every day. When you’re in our space, you’re part of the family too.

If you’d like to know more about our approach to rehab and performance, drop us a DM 💪🏼

Running mechanics post op: what my PT sees vs. what it feels like in my brain 💃

I’m a few months into retraining how I move, & I still feel completely ridiculous every single time. In my head I’m strutting down a runway, but on video it just looks like normal movement!

It’s been such a good reminder that new movement patterns always feel exaggerated long before they feel natural. If you’re working on changing something in your running and it feels awkward, that usually means you’re doing it right. Thankfully our brain catches up eventually.

Anyone else feel like a fashion model doing their drills? 👇🏻it can’t just be me…) by @carlyspauldingphysio

#noAIcaption Carly Spaulding, our Director of Clinical Services, had this to say about the most overlooked aspects of knee rehabilitation:

“1) Progressing too quickly in the early stages.

We can’t skip steps. Aggressively addressing joint swelling by pinpointing the cause lets us then begin to overcome the nervous systems attempt to ‘turn off’ the quads. Nervous system ALWAYS wins.

2) Not rehabbing at the speed of the most vulnerable tissue.

Oftentimes, the new graft isn’t where we should be focusing our attention. Concurrent injuries like meniscal repairs, plateau fractures, and even the graft harvest site itself require far more consideration and often get overlooked. We have to respect the weakest tissue.

3) Not progressing aggressively enough in mid-to-end stages.

The paradox of rehab - wanting to push too early and not pushing hard enough later on. We need to know the demands of our athlete in order to build them out a plan to meet these demands. Bands won’t cut it for 95% of people at this stage.

4) Collecting data but never using it

Tech is everywhere now. But if you’re testing for deceleration impulse but your programs don’t reflect your findings, we’ve missed the mark. If you’re testing knee extension but not addressing movement quality, we’ve missed the mark.“

Struggling with your knee rehab? We want to know about it. Book a second-opinion consultation - link in bio.

KASHA

When power meets precision, you get Kasha.

This high-level football athlete came to us pre-operatively to try and gain some ground on a very cranky knee after sustaining an ACL and meniscal tear.

After 6 months of grinding it out under the care of @carlyspauldingphysio , Kasha now joins @coach_kalthoff for her final blocks of return-to-sport prep.

It takes a village. We like to think we have a pretty great one.

Let’s get it, Kasha!

ACL - MID STAGE REHAB

Brooke is a ringette athlete who had an ACL repair + LET, hit a major setback, and came to us feeling stuck. We broke things down, rebuilt her foundation, and focused on the right work at the right time.

Now she’s off like a rocket.

Post-op ACL rehab isn’t about rushing timelines — it’s about clear milestones, objective testing, and actually preparing you to return to sport.

If you’re post-op and feeling behind, there is a way forward.

Some seasons of life make it harder to love your body.

The seasons when you’re injured and your return feels out of reach.

The seasons of loss, where your body carries grief you never asked for.

The seasons of transition, when you step into a completely new identity—like motherhood—and feel both unfamiliar and infinite at the same time.

And all the quiet in-between moments, when your body doesn’t perform the way your mind remembers it could.

To my body: Thank you for carrying me through recovery, for letting me race my first 10k postpartum, and most importantly—for giving me her. ❤️ taken in Banff, Alberta by @carlyspauldingphysio
