If you’re looking for the perfect balance of beaches, relaxation, and easy access to the city, this is the area we’d recommend.

✔ Quieter than Golden Sands
✔ Only 15–20 minutes from Varna city centre

🧖 Our favourite experience

Aquahouse Thermal & Beach

One of the best spa experiences we’ve had.

✔Loads of indoor & outdoor pools
✔ Natural mineral water
✔ Saunas
✔ Beach access
✔ Sea views

You can literally go from swimming in the Black Sea to relaxing in thermal pools.

🏛 Our favourite attraction

Varna Archaeological Museum

Home to the oldest processed gold ever discovered in the world.

Even if you’re not normally into museums…
this one is absolutely worth visiting.

🌊 Best beach areas

St. Constantine & Helena
Perfect for a peaceful beach day.

Golden Sands
Lively atmosphere, beach clubs and long sandy beaches.

Riviera Beach
Quieter, more exclusive, and surrounded by nature.

🍽 Where to eat

Staria Chinar

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to.

Don’t miss:

Shopska salad + rakia
Safrid
Traditional grilled meats (skara)
Beef medallions
Lamb brains with risotto (trust us!)

🤫 Best hidden gems

Aladzha Monastery

A monastery carved directly into the cliffs.

Stone Forest

One of the most unique landscapes in Bulgaria and only a short drive from Varna.

💰 Is Varna expensive?

Honestly…

Not at all.

Compared to many European summer destinations, we found:

✔ Hotels offered great value
✔ Restaurants were affordable
✔ Attractions were reasonably priced
✔ Spa experiences cost far less than we’d expected

It’s one of the best-value beach destinations we’ve visited.

Woke up to this every morning and it never got old 😍 The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed and so comfortable, proper switch-off-your-brain energy. That balcony though… our favourite part!

Here’s the part nobody talks about enough: access to Aquahouse Thermal & Beach is completely included in your stay 🙌

Thermal pools, beach, loungers, all yours. We lived here before dinner and didn’t spend a penny extra

Okay we have to talk about the food 🍽️

Half board included, and yes, we went in expecting average buffet energy. What we got was fresh local Bulgarian dishes every single night, full of flavour, always generous. We ate like kings and queens every evening and looked forward to dinner every single day. Did not see that coming 👑

SAVE THIS for your Prague itinerary 🇨🇿

If you’re visiting Prague, these are 10 things you shouldn’t miss, a mix of iconic spots, hidden gems, and simple experiences that make the city so memorable.

Here’s what to add to your list 👇

🌿 Wallenstein Gardens
One of the most peaceful spots in the city, just a short walk from the busy centre. Look out for peacocks roaming freely and the impressive baroque architecture.

🪦 Vyšehrad Cemetery & Slavín
A quiet, historic cemetery set within the Vyšehrad complex, with beautiful views over the city. Slavín is the final resting place of many famous Czech figures.

🏰 Prague Castle
One of the largest castle complexes in the world. There’s a lot to see here, so give yourself a few hours to explore properly.

✡️ Jewish Quarter (Josefov)
One of the most historic parts of Prague, home to several synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery, where thousands of gravestones are layered closely together.

🚤 River cruise
A great way to see Prague from a different perspective.

🕰️ Astronomical Clock
The oldest working astronomical clock in the world. You’ll find it in Old Town Square, and it still performs every hour.

🍖 Traditional Czech food
Dishes like goulash, pork knuckle, and dumplings are rich, filling, and a big part of the local culture.

🍺 Czech beer with a view
Beer is cheaper than water in some places, and enjoying it with a view over the city is one of the simplest but best experiences.

🐀 Nutrias along the river
Large, beaver-like rodents you’ll often spot along the Vltava River. They’re surprisingly friendly.

🔔 Hear the melodies from the towers at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul
Instead of standard bell chimes, the towers play actual musical sequences that echo across the area.

If you’re planning a trip, this is exactly how we’d spend a day in the city 👇

☕ Morning start
Breakfast at Radisson Blu Hotel Prague, the perfect, slow start before heading out to explore.

🚶 Morning walk through the city
From Wenceslas Square to hidden gems like Church of Our Lady of the Snows, wandering through Havel Market and passing under the iconic Powder Tower.

🏰 Old Town highlights
Exploring Old Town Square, the stunning Church of Our Lady before Týn, St. Nicholas Church, and watching the Astronomical Clock.

🍽️ Lunch stop
Traditional Czech food at Lokál Dlouhááá, simple, authentic, and so delicious. Something that caught us by surprise was that sides and sauces are ‘all you can eat’, so definitely come hungry!

🕍 Afternoon exploring
Wandering through the historic Josefov (Jewish Quarter), one of the most unique parts of the city.

🌙 Evening reset
Back to Radisson Blu Hotel Prague for dinner, rest, and the perfect end to the day.
