Yesterday was a knitting adventure! I finally got the courage to cut the steek to create this festive cardigan. It was so fun using the Strange Brew pattern to create my own yoke design and then challenging myself to turn it into a cardigan. Super scary but so satisfying!

I couldn’t wait to wear this cardigan so I breezed through sleeve island. Favourite handknit cardigan so far!

I wasn’t sure if I was a vest person or not but after completing this knit I’m converted. It’s just so wearable!

When Theo selected his sweater this year I told him that I wasn’t confident I could install the zipper. His response? Of course you can! It was good to be reminded that some barriers are only in our heads and we just need to get out of our own way.

I’m proud that I took on the challenge because this sweater brought me so much joy to knit and even more to hand over to my knit worthy son.

💫New Design Release 💫
I had the pleasure of test knitting the Mara Blouse by Sophie, @the_knit_purl_girl over the last several weeks. The design is straightforward to knit, easy to style, and the fit is perfection. The pattern comes in both DK and fingering weight with options for short or long sleeves. I particularly love the wide almost boat neck collar and you know I love stripes (but this classic is gorgeous in one colour as well). My choice was long sleeve using a summer yarn for a perfect transitional piece.

Believe it or not I almost didn’t finish this sweater. Somehow I managed to knit the size one larger than the size I intended. I’m not one for a lot of positive ease in my knits because it usually makes me feel sloppy so when I realized what I had done I was very close to frogging. Instead this sweater languished without sleeves for almost 2 months while I worked on summer knits. Then one day I picked it up and felt how dreamy the fabric is and remembered how I had obsessed about choosing the right yarn and colour for this during the planning phase (and thought about the nightmare of trying to frog this baby alpaca fluff). So I pushed forward. The end result is the exact amount of ease intended by the designer and while it’s bigger than I would typically wear I do love it. It’s the perfect easy like Sunday morning sweater.

I finished two weeks ago during the heat wave. Happily it was cool enough this morning to snap a few pics.

Same but different! This is my second version of Tori’s beautiful pointelle lace inspired design. It’s such a wonderfully fitting tee that I couldn’t resist knitting another with my knit friends. I had a vision for something a little bit different this time around - same great fit, more fun lace!
