Fall Vibes, New Connections & a Little Denim Drama

What exactly does “fall vibes” mean?

Even as a stylist, I found myself questioning the assignment when my fellow film industry girlie and stylist, @mara.novembre, invited me to her fall-themed picnic.

So, I did what came naturally. I showed up as myself.

A little denim drama, thigh-high boots, and exaggerated proportions.

Did I overdress? The thought crossed my mind. Heels on grass in the park?!

But somewhere between getting dressed and enjoying the afternoon, I reminded myself:

There’s no wrong way to express your individuality.

And as beautiful as the fashion was, the real beauty of the afternoon had very little to do with what we were wearing.

Different professions. Different experiences. Different style imprints.

A sports medicine professional, a new mother and wellness advocate, and three film industry girlies. Different journeys, but a shared curiosity about life.

This was our first time coming together as a group, yet the connection felt so natural.

We laughed, shared stories, and enjoyed a gorgeous picnic experience created by @qc_picnics, with the New York City skyline as our backdrop.

Making new friends isn’t about finding people who share my history. It’s about connecting with people who share my curiosity about life.

There’s something beautiful about exchanging perspectives, discovering unexpected common ground, and simply enjoying one another’s company.

No need to fit in, compete, or impress. Just women showing up as themselves.

Life isn’t about blending in. It’s about finding the freedom to belong without losing yourself.

Special love to @mara.novembre, @drchristinepersaud, @nakisake, and @iamjenngonzalez for the laughter, wonderful conversations, and beautiful connections.

And a special shoutout to @qc_picnics for creating such a gorgeous, intimate experience! 🥂❤️

Here’s to new friendships, unexpected connections, and always leaving room for a little magic. ✨ taken in Jersey City, New Jersey by @carmiamarshall

11 years.

And the longer we’re together, the more we realize that it’s less about the quantity of time and more about the quality. The intention. The joy we make room for along the way.

We celebrated at the pre-opening of Creola NYC, an intimate supper club serving a five-course meal. We had no idea what to expect, and that was part of the wonder.

The food was art. The flavors were magical. The space was cozy, meaningful, and thoughtfully curated. The chef came out to tell us about each course, making the experience feel even more personal.

Maybe that’s why the evening stayed with me. Something as simple as sharing dinner became a moment we will remember and cherish. It reminded me to be grateful for the small things and the not-so-small things.

Just like our 11 years together.

And counting. ❤️ taken in Brooklyn, New York by @carmiamarshall

Funny thing is, I didn’t make any birthday plans.

I was caught up and adulting.

Then, as the day got closer, I got annoyed with myself for not planning a celebration.

But as the weekend unfolded…

There were plans.

Intimate.
Intentional.
High energy.

So I stepped back and embraced being celebrated.

The birthday wishes.
The flowers.
The cakes.
The compliments.
The calls, texts, love, and all the little moments in between.

Thank you.

You made me feel good. Seen. Loved. Full.

And now I’ve got the itch to keep the party going.

Leo season is surging hard into 2027.

Another year around the sun.
The end of a decade.

It was relentless.
Joyful.
Staggering.

Smiles.
Tears.
Indifference.

Nothing I expected,
yet somehow
everything I needed.

Reflection.
Gratitude.
Loss.
Grief.
Love.

Big moments.
Small moments.
The ones that changed everything
and the ones I almost missed.

I have learned that a life
doesn’t have to be perfect
to be beautiful.

That joy can live beside grief.
That endings can make room.
That becoming can be quiet.

I’m entering slowly.
Intentionally.
With my eyes open.

This is the beginning
of endless celebration.
Endless joy.
More presence.
More life.

Another year around the sun

and the dancing won’t stop.

Laelle ventured to New York for her first solo trip as a teenager, ready to experience New York City on her own. She quickly adapted to New York living. 😂

Voiceover acting classes. Singing classes. Broadway shows. Photography. Great food. Exploring the city. NY became her playground to discover, relax, dream and imagine what life in the big city could be.

And she had a whole NY crew waiting for her: @samjdecor, @msjjstone @josama_zeptepizemi , @sandmarsha60 💗

We LOVED having her. The big smiles. The incessant laughter. The excitement over Broadway shows. The appreciation for all the different international foods. The curiosity about everything.

There is something really special about watching someone you love experience New York City as a teenager.

When you’ve lived in New York for a while, it’s easy to forget just how much we have access to every single day. We rush past the theaters, the museums, the food, the music, the neighborhoods, the people, the energy, all of it, because eventually it simply becomes home.

But watching Laelle reminded us to see it again.

She came to New York to explore and discover, but somehow she reminded us to do the same.

To slow down.
To look around.
To laugh a little louder.
To appreciate what’s right in front of us.

And to remember that sometimes the places we know by heart still have the ability to surprise us.

We loved having you, Laelle. ❤️

Come back anytime. Your NY crew will be waiting. 🗽 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @carmiamarshall

A little late posting this, but some moments are worth sharing anyway.

The weather was wild with lightning, sandstorms, and even a rainbow. It was one of those days where you just had to go with the flow.

Even so, the celebration continued, and it was nice to take a moment to laugh and soak it all in.

Our fireworks show may have been canceled, but we still found a little bit of fireworks in the most unexpected place. And maybe that’s life, isn’t it? Sometimes the plans we lose make room for moments we never saw coming. taken in Catskill, New York by @carmiamarshall

Every day is Mother’s Day. Since my mother’s passing, this holiday carries a different kind of weight for me. But the world would not be what it is without the nurturing souls who give of themselves selflessly—often unconditionally.

Yesterday may have been Mother’s Day, but grief and gratitude don’t follow a calendar. Today, I’m holding both. One for what I miss. One for what was given so freely. And maybe that’s the quiet truth of love: it leaves fingerprints on everything long after someone is gone.

To every mother, chosen mother, grandmother, auntie, mentor, and nurturer who has poured love into others—you matter more than words can measure. Your care shapes generations, even in ways you may never fully see.

Closing out Black History Month with national recognition from IATSE.

I receive this with deep humility.

Not as a spotlight — but as a reflection of the collective labor, mentorship, and shared resolve that made space for me to stand here.

Black history is built in rooms like ours.
In continuity.
In advocacy.
In care.

Honored to contribute. Grateful to continue the work. taken in New York, New York by @carmiamarshall

didn’t follow my own advice.

I was bored with my closet. Restless. Wanting something new.

So I bought a dress.
Mauve rose. Off the shoulder. Romantic.

When it arrived?
Too small. Poorly made. Not me.

So I went back to my closet.

And there she was — gold embroidered, deep V, A-line. Waiting.

I added structure.
Three belts. Gold buckles.
Sheer black. Knee-high boots.

The silhouette shifted. So did I.

I danced and remembered—

When I abandon my intuition, I spend money.
When I return to it, I get resourceful.

Innovation isn’t always acquisition.
Sometimes it’s perspective.

Before you buy more, look deeper.
The gold might already be yours.

A Weekend of Love

Love is the quiet courage to stay open
to choose tenderness when you could choose armor,
to believe in connection when fear would be easier,
and to keep showing up with your whole heart,
even when it trembles.

It was an absolute pleasure to attend the wedding union and celebration of Matt Chambers @7house.ny and Tyvette Symone @tyvettesymone.

Love truly danced in the air and was contagious. You could feel it in the way everyone softened… in the way everyone stayed present.

The fashion was forward, easy, and deeply expressive — a true reflection of the moment.

Josama @josama_zeptepizemi wore a hand-painted white crisp button-front by Blank Canvas, our capsule collection — stay tuned.
And the NY fitted @iam_edrickcan

Tyvette’s headpiece was wonderful, designed by Jennifer Lord @naturalhollywood — sculptural, regal, unforgettable.

The moment was full. No rushing. No performing. Just presence.

To life together, Matt and Tyvette. 🤍 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @carmiamarshall
