There’s something I’m learning this summer…

Making time isn’t always about checking something big off the bucket list.

Sometimes it’s a few quiet hours while Raffy is off making memories at summer camp. Sometimes it’s trying a new restaurant, watching an Arizona sunset, finally wearing a piece of jewelry you’ve been excited about, or ending the day with a face mask and tired feet.

The big adventures are wonderful, but I’m finding just as much joy in these little in-between moments. 💚

This summer has been about creating space—for family, for us, for new places, and for slowing down enough to actually enjoy them.

Whenever life changes, I find myself coming back to making things.

Over the past few weeks, sewing has been more than just a hobby. It has helped me build a routine, explore a new creative community, and feel a little more at home here in Tucson.

These are a few of the projects I’ve been working on lately:

🩳 One pair of Emerson Shorts (and another one already in progress 😄)

I’m still learning with every project, and honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts. Every garment teaches me something new.

Creativity has a way of making unfamiliar places feel familiar.

We’ve visited Tucson many times over the years, but this summer feels different.

Instead of passing through for a holiday or a quick trip, we’re getting to experience what everyday life here looks like.

Botanical garden evenings, coffee stops, summer camp projects, pottery painting, baking adventures, local discoveries, and desert sunsets are slowly becoming part of our routine.

Some of these moments are big, most are small, but together they’re helping turn a familiar place into a temporary home.

A few weeks ago, we packed the car and headed west.

After spending seven months apart while Matt was deployed in Arizona, it was finally time for our family to be together again.

Four days on the road.
Thousands of miles.
One very patient dog.
A stop at the Grand Canyon.
A memorable Nepalese restaurant in Colorado.
Countless snacks and road trip playlists.

Looking back, the drive wasn’t just how we got here. It was the beginning of this whole adventure.

This summer is about creativity, movement, adventure, and making time for the things that matter most.

We’re with Raffy in Tucson, Arizona, visiting Matt during his deployment for Thanksgiving week. We checked out the botanical garden and it completely blew our minds — so much fun that we’re becoming members to be regulars every time we visit! If you’re in Tucson, don’t miss this place. You can tell it’s made with love, care, and incredible attention to detail. Can’t wait to go back!

Sometimes, the best creations carry a story stitched deep within their seams. This quarter zip sweatshirt isn’t just fabric and thread—it’s two years of waiting, friendship across continents, and the joy of finally bringing a dream to life.

A fabric traveled from Spain to Chile, held in my stash, then made into something imperfectly perfect. The waistband still needs a tweak, but that’s just part of the magic—the journey, the growth, the love in every stitch.

Here’s to showing up, sharing our messy, beautiful creations, and weaving our lives into the things we make. Keep dreaming, keep creating—because every stitch tells a story worth telling.

ust finished these super comfy palazzo linen pants! 🌿 Took me a while—not because they were hard, just life happening and a trip in between—but they were so easy and perfect for early summer (or the whole season). I even realized I have a crop top I made myself back in April—early spring—that I never wore… and honestly, I don’t feel like I have the age to wear crop tops, but… why not? 😅 With these pants, it actually looks really cute, so maybe that’s a yes!

Quick note: I usually make my videos in English, but for this one I spoke Spanish. Instagram’s AI sometimes translates for my Spanish-speaking friends, so I’m curious…

✨ Today’s outfit is a mix of self-made + Stitch Fix! ✨

I’m wearing a satin skirt I made myself paired with a shirt from Stitch Fix. What I love about this skirt: it’s super fresh for warm days, but I can totally wear it with tights in winter too. 🖤

It’s a super simple project and doesn’t take as much fabric as you’d think! I’m thinking of making a small adjustment for a better fit—maybe adding a couple of darts in the back.
