Found this old unfinished painting I made. 🪷🪲

How do you feel about returning to old pieces and finishing them or reworking them?

I'm torn. I made this when I knew next to nothing about Acrylics. I worked almost exclusively with watercolor and gouache at the time so this was tricky for me. I felt like, layer wise, I was working backwards. Also, when drawing I didn't measure anything out. From a technical standpoint, I've learned so much since then. So, I'm tempted to bring that to this canvas and complete this painting.

However, another part of me feels like an archaeologist and I want to preserve what I was feeling, and where and who I was at the time. A tiny time capsule. I wonder how it would have turned out of i had finished it back then? ✨️

There are so many awesome prompt challenges for October! 🎃 I love the variety ✨️
Based on my schedule and chasing a 4 year old around there's no way I'll be able to keep up all 31 days.
I've chosen to be realistic and not beat myself up and just cherry pick from a smattering of prompts and paint when I'm able and just have fun with it.

I LOVE looking at #wipart ✨️
Elvira: Mistress of The Dark was one of my top favorite movies when I was like 5 😆 and it's never left that ranking. So this is a lil love tribute. 💕

I've got tons of layers left to paint but it feels good to finally hop on the spooky train 🦇🎃🦇

Some very squishy goofy fish 🐟

Sketched these guys from some pics I took at an aquarium store. I wasn't going to make this a post but this is the first thing I've been able to draw in almost a MONTH!! 😵‍💫 (And I hate that)

I decided to make it a post b/c it's a reminder to go at my own pace and to be kinder to myself. I got very burnt out, run down, and sick. And instead of giving myself the space to heal and recharge, what do I do? I beat myself up emotionally and mentally. Fortunately, I was able to stop and remind myself of all the great (and therapeutic) advice I've hoarded over the years and am more at peace with myself and ready to paint! ✨️

On my website I plan on making weekly newsletter/blog posts and one of the 1st things I plan to touch on is 'Artists & Health' (which will also evolve into trying to balance creativity and parenthood).

So, wishing you all patience, kindness, and a cozy well-being for you to share with yourself 💖🍂
