I’ve finally got my hands on a proof of my next novel. The Falling is about facing fears and finding love. It’s about the worlds we carry within us. It is also about asteroids. I loved writing this book. It’s out on 5th November and proofs should be landing shortly. by @carolehaileyx

This magnificent book, which is part auto-fiction and part metafiction, is a stunning exploration of what it means to be a writer, to not only contain multitudes (thank you Walt Whitman) but to create and destroy them at will. Whether you’re a writer, or a reader, or both, it’s a unique and absorbing meditation on the difference, if any, between life and art. I loved it. I only took two photos… with the wonderful Marina and James, my agent and editor, and the fabulous Lynda and Tracy, two of the judges that made my year by shortlisting Scenes from a Tragedy for the Twisted Dagger. It was also brilliant to see Abigail Dean win Crime Book of the Year for her stunning novel, The Death of Us 🧡 by @carolehaileyx

Too hot to write book #4, so I’m doing research for it instead and working myself up into a right state reading about the systematic attacks on truth over the last few decades. The Exxon board first received scientific data in 1977 about the effects of burning fossil fuel. They were told there was a window of 5 to 10 years to make critical changes to energy strategies. They publicly countered this information over and over again. And here we all are. Lies, Incorporated is not the most relaxing read, but it is fascinating and guaranteed to raise your blood pressure. #liesincorporated #amreading #posttruth #mediamatters by @carolehaileyx

Unique is an overused word however, for me, May We Feed The King by @poorsasquatch is completely unique. Part historical novel, part meditation on how much we can ever really understand anyone else, the descriptions are exquisite. I absolutely loved this glorious fictionalised story of Kate Dickens. @emilyhowesbooks writing is rich, nuanced and luscious, restoring grace and dignity to a woman who deserved so much more than she received from her husband. This book has my whole heart. I don’t know why I waited so long to read it, but after seeing how much @bexbookaholic loved both it and @marxia1 I thought it was about time to get on with it! The inspiration behind Black Bag is a 1967 experiment testing mere-exposure effect theory, for which a volunteer attended a semester of classes dressed in a black bag. This fabulous book by @luukekennnard takes Black Bag much further than the confines of a classroom, exploring art, friendship, masculinity and the superficiality of our modern world.
