Although the Volcanic Seven Summits is done and dusted. This year I started another little challenge that I’m half way through (The 7 summits) with only the last 3 mountains to go I still can’t believe that a few years ago I was contemplating what my life would look like as a disabled person living permanently in a wheelchair! 🦽
•
It’s moments like this that I am eternally grateful for all the amazing people that have crossed my path and the amazing organisations that supported me @dhl_global @dhlexpress @dhlexpressuae

Sending you all lots of love and gratitude 🙏

It’s still unfathomable in my mind, that this happened. & yet I realised that I still hadn’t posted my summit photos yet.

So here it is a beautiful collection of photos from the 23rd of May; from leaving our tents at 1:30am to the balcony, the south summit and of course the infamous Hillary Step and finally standing on the summit of Everest.

There’s something pretty special about this trail. 🏔️

Since the 1950s, climbers have been following this very same route to the foot of the Mother Goddess of the World Sagarmatha, Mount Everest.

And somehow, every single day, the mountains get more beautiful.

Standing here staring up and the giant of the sky

Taboche & Cholatse On the right,
Island peak and Lhotse right in front & Lobouche to the left it’s breathtaking! In two days we’ll be at the foot of Everest!

Day 6 of our journey to Everest Base Camp, and we’ve arrived in Pheriche, sitting at around 4,370m, with Everest Base Camp still ahead of us at 5,364m.

An acclimatisation day in Pheriche, Nepal 🇳🇵🏔️

A hike up Nangkartshang Peak at around 5,083m.

The magic …..

These two absolute beauties, Taboche and Cholatse, rising above the valley.

There’s something mesmerising about the mountains in Nepal. The way the light moves, the clouds drift through the valleys.
•

One of the reasons I love being here is how much you slow down, find your rhythm, and remember why you came here in the first place. ❤️

The most beautiful part of the trail to Everest Base is by far day 7 - Debouche to Periche when you cross that first suspension bridge the forest clears and Ama Dablam dominates the landscape!
•
She is by far one of the most beautiful mountains and for several hours you can’t do anything but look and take photos of this beauty!

There’s something about Tengboche Monastery that’s difficult to put into words. 🇳🇵

Surrounded by the Himalayas, with the mountains rising all around you. Walking in and sitting on little cushions in the corner watching the Buddhist monks perform their daily prayers.

I think that’s what I love most about being in Nepal. It’s not just the mountains or the challenge of climbing them. It’s the moments in between. The places you pass through, the people you meet, the culture, the spirituality, and the feeling of being very small in a world that is so incredibly vast.

You can spend so much time in the mountains thinking about the next destination, the next summit, but places like this remind me to slow down and appreciate where I am, rather than always looking ahead.

This place leaves you feeling something you can’t quite explain. 🤍

In Namche Bazaar, I had the privilege of witnessing a traditional prayer flag ceremony.
•
A reminder that, to the Sherpa people, these mountains are far more than peaks to be conquered. They are sacred, alive, and deeply woven into the community’s identity.

From the monk blessing every thread, to the community raising the flag together, to the juniper smoke carrying prayers into the mountains, every part of the ceremony is beautiful!

As climbers, we spend so much time preparing to reach the summit. But perhaps just as important is understanding the place we’re entering, the people who call it home, and the traditions that have honoured these mountains for generations.

Because the mountains don’t belong to us. We are privileged to walk among them.

I think my heart lives here in Nepal. 🇳🇵 I can’t explain leaving the hustle and bustle of the city and entering the magic of the Sargamatha National park.
•
Lately I’ve been feeling lost, like somehow the compass of my life or what I thought was the direction I was going fell apart and now I’ve been wondering 💭 how to start again? How to find the spark ⚡️ again? How to find my magic 🤷🏻‍♀️
•
The fire that lives inside me has somehow been dimmed but entering this world of nature, trees, forest, wind and mountains feels like the start of finding it again.
•
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Nepal who has been affected by the floods, the landslides, the avalanches ❤️❤️

🏔️ THE SEVEN SUMMITS SERIES — SPOTLIGHT ON MOUNT ELBRUS

Mount Elbrus in Russia is the highest mountain and, at 5,642m, the highest mountain in Europe.

It sits in the Caucasus mountain range in southern Russia, close to the Georgian border, and takes approximately eight days to climb.

When should you go?
July and August.

I’ve climbed Elbrus in September before and, honestly, we had terrible weather. The wind was so strong that we were almost blown off the mountain. Elbrus is notorious for unpredictable and sometimes brutal weather, so I’d definitely stick to the main climbing season and avoid going outside July and August if you can.

But despite the weather, it’s a beautiful mountain and for anyone starting their Seven Summits journey, I’d put Elbrus at number two on your list.

Why?

Because it’s a fantastic introduction to mountaineering skills: using crampons and an ice axe, moving efficiently on snow and ice, and learning how to travel as part of a fixed-rope team.

And the best part? It gives you that experience without feeling completely insurmountable.

It’s a proper mountain, but it’s totally doable which makes it a great stepping stone towards the bigger peaks.

🌍 Seven Summits Spotlight: Mount Elbrus 5,642m.

I know pain. I’ve had an accident, spent two months in hospital and had 14 surgeries. But the pain that’s hardest to deal with has never been physical.

When I was younger, I handled emotional pain in ways that never served me. I withdrew, I shut down, I smoked, I lied so I wouldn’t have to talk about how I felt. And every time, it walked me ten steps backwards.

Over the years I’ve learned one thing. When in pain... train.

Not beasting yourself into extremes. Training to change your mood. To feel better about yourself. To get the rubbish out of your head. To think clearly. To process what you’re feeling. To be around people.

Training isn’t a replacement for support, and if you’re really struggling, please talk to someone. But for me, it’s the healthiest thing I know.

What do you do when it hurts? Tell me below 👇 taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @caroline.d.leon
