Scaling things up a little (or a lot;) This past year I’ve been in the studio at Kala pulling screen prints— short editions and one-offs— taking imagery from my paintings and seeing what happens when it moves through the screen-printing process. What comes out are these abstracted, layered landscapes that feel like a natural extension of the paintings. Same universe, different medium. For me, the garden is a metaphor for the universe, this idea anchors the work. It’s a continual search to somehow portray the texture of land, its color and rhythm and quiet sound. Seeing this piece, blown up larger than life, hits different. Delighted to share that I‘ve been selected for a new public art project with the City of Emeryville. I have been commissioned to create a mural for the Garden Conference Room at City Hall. Deer in the Cosmos: Looking for Time will span two adjoining corner walls measuring 80” x 120”, creating a continuous visual landscape that opens the room outward into a vibrant garden scene. By bringing nature’s imagery indoors, the artwork will transform the space into an immersive, nature-inspired environment.What I like about this jewel-box space is that the conference room walls are predominantly glass, so the mural will be visible to the public from the exterior hallway as they pass by.A distinctive feature of the installation, and new for me, is the integration of a clock in the cosmos of the mural’s starry sky. Super excited to see this space transformed from a utilitarian meeting space into a place of imagination and wonder. I look forward to working with @electricworks to produce the work. A new exhibition at 19th St. Oakland Station has been installed in the light boxes, featuring site specific reinterpretations of artworks by four Bay Area artists. Filled with florals, organic textures, and scenes inspired by the natural beauty of the Bay Area, the exhibition brings a burst of spring into the heart of downtown Oakland. Each of the works, created by Courtney Cerruti (@ccerruti), Liz Hernandez (@spellofmyself), Carrie Lederer (@carrielederer) and Kija Lucas (@kijalucas) , center botanicals, inviting riders to pause and experience a moment of inspiration as they travel through the station. The project was led by the BART Art Program that engaged curator Lisa Solomon (@lisasolomon) , a local artist and educator who is actively involved with local Bay Area art and artists. “I think it’s really exciting that people get to see [art] in their daily lives. They don’t have to go to a museum, they don’t have to be familiar with artwork; they just have to look up while they’re commuting,” said Lisa Solomon. The project is “all about bringing the outside in.” “It was really important to show the gamut of what florals can do in art,” she said. The artworks are located at four locations inside the station, all visible without entering the paid area: three on the eastside of the station near the entrance/station agent booths, and one on the westside of the station across from the mid-station agent booth. They will be on display at least through fall 2026. The pieces complement three stairwell lightboxes (located between the lower and upper platforms) with permanent installations by artists Ron M. Saunders, Phillip Hua, and Lisa and Hailey Banks. “The role of the art program is to align with BART’s efforts to enhance station environments making people feel more welcome, and connecting with nearby communities,” said BART Art Program Manager Jennifer Easton.Shout out to @dsasignage for the printing and fabricating the light boxes) by @carrielederer

Thrilled to share that my work was selected for BART’s Illuminated Display Case Public Art Program at the 19th Street Station in downtown Oakland. Thank you @lisasolomon for including my work in this magical public art exhibition!✨The project is titled IN FULL BLOOM, and artist/curator Lisa Solomon also selected Coutney Cerruti @ccerruti , Liz Hernández @spellofmyself, and Kija Lucas @kijalucas. I am honored to be in the mix with this remarkable group of women artists. My piece titled Nature’s Mysterious Conglomerates (Garden in the Cosmos), is presented across a series of seven light boxes, each measuring 25” x 86”. The work explores ideas about land, the natural world, and our connection to it — rooted in a personal curiosity about nature that I keep returning to. The images move between order and disarray, the realistic and the abstract. The tapestry-like composition is dense and intertwined, meant to carry viewers across abstracted land and sky, and out into the cosmos. This program was developed to celebrate the rich cultural community and environment of Oakland and the Bay Area. The display cases are located in the unpaid areas of the 19th Street BART station, accessible from the Broadway entrances — and the work is on view through 2027. I have contributed a piece to the upcoming @southernexposuresf auction FLASHLIGHT, a benefit art auction illuminating a path through dark times. The auction includes work by over 120 emerging and established artists, so hop online to bid now, and then join the party on Friday, April 17, 2026.Featuring a silent and a live auction, food by Xulo, beer by Fort Point Beer Co., and a DJ set by Earth Angel, this event promises to be a fun-filled event. Four Deer in the Cosmos is a meditation on connection and all those unseen energies that bind the natural world. The imaginary landscape is abstracted, and built with intricately woven pockets of pattern, tangled grasses, flowers, and cacti. Splashes of neon stand-in for sounds and rhythms, or to interrupt the stillness. For years now I’ve been fascinated by the mycorrhizal networks hidden beneath the earth’s surface, nature’s miraculous system of support and exchange. Tapping into this idea of network, my paintings are full of webs and spirals and grids, meant to evoke nature’s hidden pathway of mutual support. What I’m after is a hushed, layered land, that glows from within.
