📚💙 **Introducing Our New Population Health Course!** 💙📚

We are excited to launch our new **Population Health** course at Carroll University! 🩺🌎

This course takes nursing beyond the individual patient and explores the health of communities, health disparities, social determinants of health, and the many factors that influence the well-being of populations.

One of the highlights of the course is our weekly **Book Club!** 📖✨

Students are reading *The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks* by Rebecca Skloot, diving into Henrietta’s story and engaging in meaningful conversations about ethics, healthcare, research, health equity, and the impact of healthcare on individuals and communities.

Through reading, reflection, and discussion, students are developing a deeper understanding of what it means to care for the health of an entire population.

We are so excited to see our students learning, asking questions, and connecting the story to their future roles as nurses! 💙

Our senior nursing students embarked on their final first day of community clinical! What a milestone as they continue their journey toward becoming compassionate, skilled, and confident nurses. 🩺

Senior Spotlight: Lakeisha Tillery 🎓🩺

Please join us in celebrating Lakeisha Tillery, one of our outstanding Associate Degree of Nursing graduates!

Lakeisha worked incredibly hard throughout the nursing program, meeting every challenge with determination and perseverance. Through the long days, demanding coursework, and countless moments that tested her, she never lost sight of her goal: becoming a nurse. Her dedication and commitment have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishment!

Now, as Lakeisha begins this exciting new chapter, she is exploring RN opportunities and looking for the right place to begin her nursing career. We have no doubt that her compassion, work ethic, and determination will make her an incredible nurse.

🎓✨ Associate Degree of Nursing Senior Spotlight: Diana Madrigal ✨🎓

One of Diana’s most memorable moments at Carroll was walking across the stage at graduation. She shared that the ceremony was made especially meaningful by seeing Carroll students, faculty, and families all come together to celebrate such a huge accomplishment. ❤️💙

As Diana looks toward the future, she plans to pursue a career as an oncology nurse, where she hopes to advocate for and support her patients every step of the way. She’s excited to put everything she has learned into practice and is proud to become part of the 10% of Latinx nurses in the profession.

Last night, nursing faculty attended the 3rd Annual Spring Into Nurse Wellness Benefit Gala during Nurses Week. They were able to celebrate the nursing profession with inspiring talks, live music, and a silent auction while supporting mental wellness, recovery, and peer support. 🧠 by @carrollu_nursing

Senior Nursing Spotlight. Jenna Mohler!

What is your most memorable experience at Carroll?

My most memorable moment probably has to be freshman year when I met many of my close friends. I have kept the same friends for most of my 4 years at Carroll and I wouldn’t have it any other way. There were many late night laughs, long study sessions, and many fun adventures. I could not have gotten through nursing school without them, which is why freshman year is so memorable for me.

What are your plans for after graduation?

After graduation, I will be a Registered Nurse Resident at UW Madison hospital. I will be on the internal medicine unit which I am so excited for! Eventually, I aim to transition to a pediatric clinic!

Senior Nursing Spotlight. Taya Schreiter!

What was your most memorable experience at Carroll?

My most memorable experience was the connections I made with the people in my clinical groups, along with planning my wedding and having my nursing friends be there to support me on my wedding day!

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be moving to Washington state with the goal of specializing in women’s health and eventually going back to school to be a women’s health nurse practitioner!
