My first cover ever! @redvelvetstudiosla suggested I give this song a shot, I loved the idea and immediately got to work. I took inspiration from “forever and for always” by Shania Twain for the production, country western elements mixed with my wavy synth style worked well. I hope Michael, Q and Bruce would like this rendition 🙏🏻

“Rude Girl” @_brennaforsyth on vocals
Sam @hobeyn on guitar
Myself on triangle 🔺

This track is so layered, an entire live horn section, syncopated percussion and stacks of vocals. This bouncing deep bassline was very hard to fit in the track but with countless hours working with @dr.norwave it was all brought together. This is my favourite moment in the song with Brenna singing ✨

@lukekondakmusic asked if I’d sing Good Luck, Babe! slowed down in the style of my song “Physical Therapy” and I thought it would be super fun as I love this song. I channeled my feelings about a girl being with someone I knew she’d regret and I feel the song took on a new life and is even being criticized for it haha No lyrics have changed, it just became super resonant with my experiences being an artist in relationships. @_brennaforsyth recorded some beautiful vocals for the bridge and off we went! Took this pic on my iPhone and my mom painted the writing for the cover. Shouts to @dr.norwave for your audio notes with the golden ears. Shouts to @tranterjustin for the brilliant songwriting 🙏🏻🙏🏻 and @chappellroan for standing up for artists. Forever an uppercase G for that. by @carsonhoy

A listener messaged me asked how I get my side vocals so clean 🙏🏻😮‍💨 Monitoring the sides only changed everything for the width of my songs, it’s weird at first - it feels like the opposite of mixing in mono. It’s the only way I’ve found to get super clean side vocals popping out just slightly, sounding clear and smooth over a dense wide mix. I hope this helps someone, these concepts aren’t talked about much out there!

I remember playing at my first club hearing it was stereo going “😱 They must have messed up or something!” haha Years went by and I never heard a mono system in a venue. Pretty niche rant but I believed this for years and held back on using stereo elements in my songs, hopefully this reaches someone wishing their tracks had that 3D feel but was told it would cause problems played live!

Turning pain into art 😌🎨 I made this video using my iPhone on cinematic mode and CapCut for the glowy effect and slow zoom. It tells a visual story while you listen on Spotify! This record player was used in my other branding and the colours of lights also. It all ties in.
