TL;DR - I rarely write much here, so I think it's worth the read.

Look up has a few meanings to me. The main theme though is changing your perspective, whether that's what you're doing, how you're thinking or where you're eyes are occupied.

Couple weeks ago I was having a stressful day without leaving my apartment. Looked and saw a beautiful sunset so I rushed out of my apartment, jumped on a Citi bike and sped to the Williamsburg waterfront. Fortunately it was one of the more spectacular sunsets I've seen over the big apple, and I was focused on capturing a group of friends with the city in the background. I moved over to edit what I thought were the best photos I would take that night. Instead, I looked up again and saw a cute couple, taking a selfie, and then continuing on their romantic evening - naturally that's a shot I needed to take. I did.

After editing this post's photo on the spot I told myself I needed to give it to them. "Excuse me, don't want to be awkward but I took this photo of y'all and want to give it to you." As I held out my phone the response back I got was "Oh my god, so did you see us?"

What I hadn't realized until that moment was I had unexpectedly taken an engagement photo, which was documented by the selfie not minutes before. When the world and Jack/Lucy needed a photographer I was very happy to have been there for it. May never see these two again, but it changed my mood immensely on that day to capture the beginning of the beautiful life they'll build together. Cheers to you two.

A fresh perspective can change your mood, your day, your life. A fresh perspective can also have an impact on someone else's life. Even if it's just in the form of a photograph #lookup @freshperspectivesonly #ny_shooters #newyorkextra taken in Williamsburg by @carsonmasterson

strolled around new york on the eleventh for a few hours. was nice to look up - from screens, from thoughts, from responsibilities, from everything - and appreciate what's around us and who's built before us. how lucky we are to be here. #lookup #nyc by @carsonmasterson

@bouquetwinebar in Greenpoint, #Brooklyn

[ NEIGHBORS ]

Checking in with Eric and Bouquet's new wine selection and menu pairings. I've personally gotten to know the space, people and hosted a couple events here. Have to say, it's the real deal.

Smash burgers are always a hit, but chef's menu has truly expanded. Enjoy 🍷🍔

The neighborhood is lucky to have you in it @tempo_ny
