66 flights, dozens of missed classes, plenty of angry emails, and 1 degree later…

…i graduated from Stanford this past summer🫡

one of the most challenging periods of my life. 2 flights a week for almost 6 months, balancing my degree and building and launching a startup.

luckily, it paid off :’) taken in Stanford University by @carter.cote

3:30:00 ON THE DOT 🎯

last Sunday, I hit the goal that I set for myself 18 weeks ago when I signed up for the San Francisco Marathon, my first marathon.

for 4.5 months, training was full of ups and downs, and most of the time felt like I was aiming for a goal that didn’t make sense!! near the end of my training block, it felt like I wasn’t improving and that the goal wasn’t meant to be. getting sick twice, dealing with nagging injuries, and not getting faster. “I’ll just be lucky to finish, this is probably the best I’ll get, all of this extra work isn’t getting me anywhere closer”, and “I’m prob not gonna hit it” was some of the larger doubt weighing my mind.

somewhere along the way, what clicked was reminding myself that mindset is EVERYTHING. committing towards a goal is always a journey, and a marathon’s no different. so I started telling myself “what if I DID HIT THE GOAL? what would it mean if I found a way to pull it off?”

as cliche as it is, the adrenaline of race day gave me the extra push to go well beyond my training and push for the goal. I started off faster than training but still well behind the goal of 8:00/mi, mostly hitting splits at around 8:20/mi, even 8:40/mi, which was already way above my long run splits. maybe the goal was out of reach.

but after the crazy hills on the golden gate in the first half, I decided I was going to find a way no matter what. pushing through rolling hills, i brought my pace all the way down to 8:03/mi by mile 20.

then, I hit the wall.

i felt quivers in both of my legs & cramps coming in both legs. left & right, the runners that were with me the entire race started falling off. grabbing their legs, stopping dead in their tracks, staring towards the finish line. I felt lucky to finish.

as time was ticking, i saw the goal right in front of me, and i gave it my all to get there. i hit it on the DOT: 3 hours, 30 minutes, 0 seconds.

felt like a buzzer beater to win game 7 lol

s/o to the best (& loudest) cheerleaders: my mom, friends, partner, + my dad, who i grew up watching run marathons! it was only right 11yrs later, we’d get to share this moment

insanely proud to officially be a @georgiatech alum 🐝

excited to graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Computer Science, a minor in Industrial Design, and with Highest Honors.

tech was an unimaginable surprise after graduating high school, and coming here ended up being the best decision I could have ever made. At Tech, I found life-changing opportunities to grow as a friend, leader, builder, and student.

GT provided me with supportive communities in entrepreneurship and personal development, as well as the opportunity to nurture these communities for present and future classes of Yellow Jackets. I was even fortunate enough to be nominated as a semifinalist for the prestigious Ramblin’ Royalty Award.
At GT, I’ve forged lifelong relationships and found a family. I’ve had once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I’ll cherish forever.

and even though I graduated…I still found a way to drop out. I will not be finishing my MS in Computer Science so that I can pursue my MS in HCI at Stanford.

It’s been a helluva journey, and I’ll always be grateful for the endless memories and support that I’ve had these past four years 🙌 by @carter.cote

yo. quick life update

in 2023 i worked 6 different jobs and worked my ass off because of financial struggles back home. paid my own rent, and my own expenses

all while working on side projects that reached millions of people, and building a nonprofit for thousands of students

i saw myself grow distant with friends, and at many times, felt like i was losing myself

i almost gave up…

but… i said fck it, and kept going.

i even turned down several really good full-time opportunities.

i wanted more.

this caused me so much anxiety and in many ways didn’t really make sense.

but… somehow it worked out

for the past 18 months, i’ve been on this sabbatical in an effort to build a new future.

a future with more equitable opportunities to create, learn, and pursue one’s passions.

my goal is to build and design software to shape the future of learning

I want to bridge information gaps and empower anyone to pursue their learning goals, regardless of background or economic circumstance.

i’m excited to share that this fall, I’ll be pursuing a Masters in Human-Computer Interaction at Stanford University to further this mission.

at Stanford, I’ll have the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream to build and collaborate at the best institution dedicated towards creating a more equitable future.

i have sooo much to learn. but this is an exciting next step.

sending much love to everyone who has supported me during this journey. by @carter.cote
