And after 70 days I have done it, I marched a season of World. Class. Drum corps. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way. Music City means so much to me and has taught me so much about myself and the person I want to be. If you told me 4 years ago I’d be here I would’ve never believed you. I have made a 7th grade Carter’s dream come true and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you god, for blessing me with this opportunity, you have answered my prayers and given me something no human could ever take from me. Thank you to all my brothers and sisters at music city who have been here with me from start to finish. Thank you to my friends back home for always rooting for me. Thank you to my family who helped me tread this crazy journey. And thank you to Daniel Scott, a man who took a chance on me and has helped me become the best version of myself that I can be. Thank you music city for a summer that I can never forget. I’m so proud to say that I marched music city and broke a historical record as well. “Fernweh” is a song of deep meaning following the idea of moving onto new things. It represents the ideology of traveling with no direction whilst also trying to leave your past self behind. Though, the truth is, you can never leave yourself behind, no matter how hard you try. No matter how hard you try to follow the new melody the song provides, your mind still drifts towards the sound of a constant dinging Ab through the course of the song, this is your past self. Begging, watching, and never leaving, no matter how many melodic distractions you throw in the way. This is, Fernweh.
