“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?” Psalm 121:1

Before I was creating this graphic I found myself enamored by Church architecture, specifically steeples. It led me to start thinking about the purpose of church steeples. Why do they exist? The intent was to guide the eye of those looking at the church towards heaven. Accomplishing the primary goal of the church, point others toward God.

“and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’” Luke 3:22 ESV

The dove was the form that Holy Spirit took as it descended upon Jesus, to this day it is still used as imagery to represent the spirit that lived inside Jesus, that now lives in us. Our defender, our counsel, our best friend.

I love taking communion, I get emotional thinking about what the elements represent. I often picture the blood flowing from Jesus’ head as the crown of thorns was placed on his head. It’s because of his body and his blood that we are able to enter the Holy Place.

Stained glass was introduced to the church for many reasons, one being that medieval Christians believed that by bathing churches in “otherworldly light” would enlighten churchgoers. The other was for storytelling, when it was common for the general population to be illiterate, stained glass was used as a way to convey gospel stories.

I think we often forget what the cross originally meant; shameful, painful, deserved execution. The purpose of crucifixion was not to behold a king, but to humiliate criminals. Instead we used it to murder the one who came to save us, and He would go through it again and again, just for you. Now the cross represent by @carterr.couch

ABSOLUTELY CRAZY YEAR

2025 started really rough, I hated school, I felt like I was stagnant and accomplishing nothing, then God. My faith was completely revitalized this year, taking me places I had zero intent on going, @mercycultureeastfortworth allowed growth in me like crazy which shot me into @mercyculturesls where my spiritual growth is still continuing. This year has allowed me to feel secure in my identity, as God’s son. Never in my whole life of growing up in church have I felt the need to pursue God like I do now, and my life is so much more fun lol.

The year consisted of a few trips out of town, LOTS of serving at church and a ton of Chick-fil-A. Super grateful for the friendships I got to build and grow this year. Ridiculously excited for what God has planned in 2026.

So so so thankful for the friends and family around me, you guys mean way more to me that I can show
