It’s National Adoption Day and I’m forever grateful that God built our family through the adoption of both of our boys. I’ve always known the scripture that God adopted us into his family but once I adopted I got a clearer picture of the love, the bond, the immense gratitude that I get to call them mine. I can’t begin to imagine how much more the Father feels about me! “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”

My baby boy is starting his Junior year! And because I’ve done this before I know the next 2 years will fly by with college visits, senior pics and all the lasts. @the.rileycarterr it’s gone too fast but I’m so very proud of the young man you are and all the dreams you’re working toward. Love you so much! Now go crush 11th grade 😘

Also, peep the dining room full of Amazon boxes for @rhett__c moving next week is another milestone I’m not quite ready for 😭 by @carterrhon

A great weekend of favorite foods for my favorite dads!! So incredibly blessed to have had the best dad growing up and for my boys to have the best dad too! We ate a lot of food, laughed until we cried and did alot of dishes. We’re calling it Dadsgiving 🥰 by @carterrhon

Today was my last day as a chauffeur 🥹

SPRING BREAK 2026 ✨

@the.rileycarterr & I packed up the car and headed to North Carolina for time with family. From 4-wheeler rides and grinding our own wheat for fresh bread, to pizza night, helping out at the cupcake shop, and ending our days with I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, and lots of games… it was simple, full, and so good for the soul.

Riley made the road trip playlist, and this song by Cody Johnson became the soundtrack of the week 🎶

Also… “wait… what do you mean I gotta check for ticks?” 😂

Today I’m remembering my friend Nancy.

We met in February of 2006 as coworkers, but it didn’t take long for us to become real friends. Around that time Reece and I were in the process of adopting Rhett, and Nancy shared that she had been adopted too. That connection bonded us right away.

For years we all had lunch together almost every day. It was usually over Mexican.

She loved her family. She was always sharing what was going on with her husband and girls and then eventually her nieces and nephews.

When I left the company in 2012, she followed shortly after and we became coworkers again and of course kept up our lunch routine. She introduced me to pho!

Nancy was one of the most generous people I’ve ever known. I’ll never forget in 2008 when Reece had been laid off and things were tight for us. One Friday she walked into my office, handed me a $100 bill, and said, “You and Reece go on a date this weekend.” That was Nancy.

When she eventually left the company, we made a point to keep meeting for lunch or dinner every few weeks.

We were only a couple of years apart in age but in very different stages of life. She was becoming an empty nester while I had a toddler, and she was always there for my “Is this normal?” parenting questions.

Over the last few years as she battled illness, our lunches and dinners became less frequent, but the friendship never changed. Nancy was incredibly intentional with people, and I was blessed to call her my friend.

I will miss her laugh, her generosity and the way she showed up for the people she loved.

I’m so thankful for the 20 years of friendship we shared. 💔 by @carterrhon
