โœจ2026 CHOC WALK Ambassador- Carterโœจ Thank you to @chocfoundation for allowing us the chance to share our story about Carter and the incredible care he received at @chocchildrens and โ€œWhy we Walkโ€ for @chocchildrens . We are so honored for Carter to be named the 2026 CHOC Walk Ambassador. We will forever wish he was here to share his own story but will forever share Carterโ€™s story to all who will listen. Thank you to CHOC Foundation for this incredible video that captures so much of our beautiful boy and our connection with CHOC even after his passing. This is a hard watch, but it captures our beautiful boy so well and the love we have for him at this wonderful hospital. SOOOO many thank yous for our incredible ROCK for CHOC event last weekend. We were blown away by the turnout and the community support. ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธTo all the incredible raffle donations from @chocfoundation and @alex_vincenzi and @reelbigfish . THANK YOU we sold more raffle tickets than we ever have for any other event! โค๏ธ To our daughter and Carterโ€™s little sister Taylor who sold handmade bracelets and bows to raise funds in honor of her brother. She also played a huge role in content creation with our ideas, videos, and graphics! We are SO proud of her and how she honors her big brother ๐Ÿ˜‡ THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ To the incredible @_jessamazing for designing our graphics and setting up a whole store and website for selling Rock for CHOC merch! Your talents and contributions are endless!!! THANK YOU! ๐ŸŽตTo the incredible bands: @sailorssongbook @chaselongbeach @oddrobotband and @hoorayforourside you sounded absolutely incredible and brought such amazing energy, performance, and heart to your sets! This would not have happened with you! ๐‘๐จ๐œ๐ค ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‚๐‡๐Ž๐‚!!!!! What an incredible time we had Sunday at this benefit concert raising funds for CHOC hospital (now called @radychildrens_oc ) ! The show went beyond our expectations and the whole vibe was SKAwesome ! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ™Œ We sold more raffle tickets than at any other event weโ€™ve hosted, the merch sales were flying, the drinks were flowing, the photo booth full of fun, and the dancing and good vibes were non-stop! Seeing all the little kids running around and dancing to music was such a (triggering) but beautiful moment because we know and relate to that SO much as it reminds us of how much our Carter loved dancing to live music! To the bands @sailorssongbook , @chaselongbeach , @oddrobotband , and @hoorayforourside we feel so loved and honored you would all play this event. Thank you to @radiantbeerco for providing the location and being such awesome hosts. It was such a โ€œfamilyโ€ reunion for us at Rock for CHOC and what a great reason to bring everyone together. Carter continues to be the ultimate friend. ๐Ÿฅน That ending of the show with Evan from Hooray for Our Side holding up Carterโ€™s picture. โญ๏ธROCK FOR CHOC BAND SPOTLIGHT:โญ๏ธ Hooray For Our Side A staple of the OC Ska scene since 2010, Hooray for Our Side brings high energy, catchy hooks and horn lines to the stage with their own blend of ska influenced by punk, jazz, and soul. With three studio releases under their belt, the band has been hard at work in the studio and kicked off 2026 with their new single โ€œBetter Off Gone.โ€ We have known members of Hooray For Our Side for years and this is the only band playing that Carter actually got to see. Carter loved H4OS! Hooray for Our Side played a benefit concert for our family โ€œCarterpaloozaโ€ in 2016. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป Members played his celebration of life in 2017 after he passed away. ๐Ÿ’” Hooray for Our Side was the opening band for Carterpalooza in 2016. โญ๏ธROCK FOR CHOC BAND SPOTLIGHT:โญ๏ธ Chase Long Beach Formed in 2002, Chase Long Beach is a globetrotting So Cal based ska-punk band formed in Long Beach, CA. Blending sunny, high-energy, third-wave ska with darker punk elements, they are best known for albums produced by @reelbigfish โ€˜s Aaron Barrett They have released two full length albums and one EP. They are currently working on a follow-up EP with first single expected to release in August of 2026. Similar to contemporaries like Less Than Jake, they update the traditional ska template with occasional moody, alternative-rock twists. We have known members of Chase Long Beach for years and are so excited for them to join Rock for CHOC this year. Tragically Carter passed away suddenly due to side effects related to cancer treatments. Carter never feared going to CHOC and his family is forever grateful for the care CHOC provided during his treatment. Carter embraced life and was a key figure in the local OC ska music scene even while undergoing cancer treatments! He even had a benefit concert in his memory, Carterpalooza, in August 2016 with local ska bands and several bands played his memorial in October 2017 celebrating his life. Even after his passing, Carter continues to inspire his friends and family to spread kindness , live life without fear, and to find a cure for cancer. Carter has been named the 2026 CHOC Walk Ambassador this year! (See video link below for more on Carterโ€™s story). Nine years ago (on July 7, 2017) our incredible #Carterstrong community achieved a near impossible feat of getting us to @legolandcalifornia on a sold out holiday weekend just two days after we got the devastating news that Carter had relapsed with leukemia. We had a trip scheduled to Legoland for the end of summer (a surprise trip) but given that he would have to start back again with chemotherapy treatment, hospital stays, and low immunity again for relapse we would not be able to keep that trip. ๐Ÿ’” We had originally planned to go to Vegas to watch summer league basketball that weekend, but when we realized we only had less than a week to fit in Carterโ€™s whole summer bucket list we knew we had to make his dream of finally going to Legoland a reality. Carterโ€™s summer bucket list (a Kindergerten end of year project) included six things: 1. Eat popsicles 2. Read lots of books 3. Stay up late 4. Watch movies 5. Have a picnic 6. Go to Legoland SO incredibly thankful for our community and all the efforts made to make this trip of a lifetime happen. They called, emailed, tweeted, and tagged everyone to make this happen. Even the local news heard about Carterโ€™s story (see link in hook for story!) Special thanks to @merlinsmagicwandofficial and @goldrushcurefoundation for going above and beyond to make this trip as special as it was. Legoland set us up with a two night stay at the Legoland Hotel, VIP BUDDY experience, special LEGO factory tour, and a nighttime interactive improv โ€œbedtime story.โ€ ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‰ Looking through these pictures and videos and seeing Carterโ€™s face, his joy, his utter excitement, โ€œgood great, grand, wonderful!!!โ€ and just HEARING his voice again is just magical.
