Episode 4 - How to hang a shelf!

I’ve tried my best to make this as simple as possible it’s really hard to get all the information into a short video especially about drill bits and walls so if you have any questions please let me know. I’m no professional this is just how I do it and how I find it the easiest 🫶

These brackets are really straightforward to use if it’s your first time as they have 2 clear holes. They can be used either way so are suitable for most shelf sizes!

If you want the details to the brackets comment “LINK” and I will send it over!

If you have any requests for future episodes let me know!

Hope it’s been helpful!

How to fix a broken window handle!

I’ve decided to start a little series about all the little jobs my Dad taught me growing up that I can show you! They seem like mundane things but have been so helpful now living in my own house!

I know so many people who would just get someone out to fix these handles when it literally takes 15 minutes to do it yourself and will save money!

Let me know if you find this helpful!

The next video in the series will be to hang a shelf! As loads of you ask me this all the time 🫶

Also if you want the handle details comment “LINK” and I will send it over!

Lots of love

Putting up the viral radiator shelf…

I loved my small one in the hallway so I’ve gone for a big one this time in the living room. Really easy to put up and makes the radiator look less ugly and gives me a little space to put my things. The shelves have a reflective coating on the back too!

I love it! They come in different sizes and colours too!

If you want the details comment SHELF and I will send it over!

As promised The full hallway makeover from start to finish!

A risk with the paint that I definitely think paid off!

I will definitely be experimenting with colour in the future ❤️

And just to confirm the unexpected red theory is in reference to my whole house so this is the unexpected red in the whole house 🙈

I would love to jump inside the minds of other people for a day 🤣

To me it’s just a painted room but I actually love how deeply other people think about things and with some very interesting perspectives!

This colour and decor choice isn’t for everyone and that’s ok I love having conversations with people about their opinions we all can’t like the same thing. I’ve loved experimenting with this hallway because I’ve tried every colour I could think of that would work so this was kind of a wild card and I absolutely love how it turned out! Sometimes you just have to try new things ❤️

I’m excited to explore colour more with the extension! So watch this space 👀

Sorry about the audio it made me laugh 🤣

One of my favourite things to do is paint my ugly white radiators some people hate it but I just think would you rather this or them look white/yellow? We need new ones but that’s not going to happen anytime soon so adding these clip on pipe covers and a radiator shelf just makes them look so much more clean and aesthetic!

Ps all I do to paint my radiators is clean and lightly sand use a metal primer then eggshell paint lightly sanding between coats.

If you want the pipe cover and shelf details comment UGLY and I will send them over! I have also put the links in my bio 🫶

ad The finishing touch everyone forgets when decorating… how your home smells 🌸

I always think about the paint, furniture, lighting and accessories when I’m finishing a room, but scent makes such a difference to how a space actually feels when you walk into it.

I picked up the @airwickuk Serene Awakenings range, available exclusively at Tesco, in the Waterfall Mist & Lotus fragrance. It’s such a fresh, light floral scent and makes the house feel calm, clean and inviting.

I’ve used the Scented Oil Plug-Ins throughout the house for continuous fragrance I always have one upstairs and one downstairs. I’ve never used the Reed Diffusers before but they look lovely as part of the room decor so perfect for the hallway, For the bathroom I use the Active Fresh Automatic Air Freshener for an extra boost as its odour neutralising!

The Plug-Ins can fragrance your home for up to 120 days on the lowest setting, while the Reed Diffusers last for up to 8 weeks, and both are infused with 2x more natural essential oils. The Active Fresh system is also aerosol-free, with adjustable fragrance settings so you can choose the intensity that works for your space.

I love that it’s such an easy change, but it can completely shift the feeling of a room. Because decorating isn’t only about how your home looks, it’s about how it makes you feel too 🏡✨

ad HALLWAY REVEAL…

I’m sorry but this is 10000% one of my fav transformations to date and what a journey it’s been! 5 years it’s taken me to finial finish it!

Finding wallpaper when you have a fairly neutral home but still love colour and pattern can be so hard. I wanted something with personality, but nothing too overpowering or that would feel out of place with the rest of our home.

I chose the Maris wallpaper in Terracotta from @essellehome new Exotic Islander collection and it couldn’t have worked more perfectly. Its delicate fan-like motifs, subtle texture and striped design have added height, movement and detail while still feeling timeless and fresh. It’s beautifully balanced my new bolder colour choice and added the texture this tiny hallway needed.
The quality is beautiful and it was genuinely so easy to work with too!

The Exotic Islander collection is inspired by tropical design through a modern lens, bringing together layered botanicals, softened geometrics and intricate details in warm terracottas, muted greens and sun-washed neutrals. Exactly my style so absolutely perfect as I get most of my home inspo from places I’ve traveled too!

If you’re like me and love a neutral home but still want colour, pattern and personality, definitely check out the Exotic Islander collection and follow @essellehome. And don’t be afraid of going a little bolder in a tiny space because sometimes it’s exactly what it needs 🤎

What do you think?

Ad The unexpected RED theory…

I’ve painted this hallway THREE times and I’ve never quite got it right… so this time I decided to stop fighting the fact it’s a small, dark space and lean into it instead 😂

So I tried the unexpected red theory.

The idea behind it is that adding a red tone somewhere you wouldn’t necessarily expect it can make a space feel more considered and pulled together. It doesn’t have to be bright red either, deeper shades like burgundy, oxblood and rust can give the same effect while still feeling warm and full of depth.

So rather than trying to make this hallway feel lighter for the fourth time, I went DARKER.

I’ve never used @claybrookstudio paint before, but their colour range is absolutely gorgeous so I had to test it out. I went for the colour Oxblood. The pigmentation is SO deep and rich and the colour changes beautifully depending on the light. It’s made the hallway feel so much more intentional and has given the whole space a warmth and depth it was missing before. I used their flat matt emulsion and I’m honestly so impressed with the finish.

I also went bold but classic with the tiles they are also from Claybrook they are the Kromatic range the light tiles: Canvas and dark tiles: Eclipse. They have that slightly imperfect, handcrafted look with subtle texture and irregular edges, which I LOVE because they add so much character without competing with everything else going on in the space.

I think this might finally be the version of this hallway that sticks I just need to add the wallpaper so come back tomorrow for the full reveal!

So… does the unexpected red theory work? I think it does ❤️

The REALITY House Tour - part two 🏠

Welcome back to some more noseying around the reality of our diy home. I love chatting about all the things we have done and plan to do without the pressure of tidying up and everything being fully finished. This is my real life so it’s obviously never perfect and I think it’s good to show the reality because even I constantly compare my messy home to all the perfect ones I see online. Never compare because I promise you no one’s house is perfect unless they have live in help 🤣

Hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions let me know!

I still have a few more parts to post if the house tour so make sure you come back for part three this week ❤️

Omg also we have got a date to start the extension and it’s sooner than I thought I’m like half having a panic attack and half excited 🙈 can’t wait to tell you more!
