“ACEBUCHE”

Wild olive
Olea europaea var. sylvestris

The olive tree stands as one of the deepest symbols of Mediterranean culture: a tree of resilience, longevity, and collective memory. In Aragón, particularly in its southern regions, its presence has shaped the agricultural landscape and cultural identity of the territory for centuries.

The project reinterprets the characteristic passage arches of traditional Aragonese architecture as walkable botanical sculptures. These vegetal structures evoke the silhouette and texture of the olive tree, creating spaces of shade, transition, and encounter that invite visitors to move through the landscape.

The experience is completed through a sensory dimension connected to the Mediterranean aromatic landscape: masses of lavender and achillea introduce an olfactory component as a territorial memory. Their fragrances, associated with the dry climate and traditional agricultural systems, evoke a more intimate perception of place, linking body, time, and landscape.

Between architecture, landscape, and agricultural memory, the sculptures propose a new threshold between nature and culture. by @casaprotea
