Obsessing over @chilenobayauberge’s social videos lately!

The way they’re able to transport social media viewers to the property through their intentional shots that drive the narratives of each video home, paired with the most perfectly selected audio 😍

This is one hotel that’s killing the game in short form video!

Welcome to @nalunosara, a beautiful collection of luxury jungle villas in Nosara, Costa Rica. 🤍

Each villa is so intentionally and thoughtfully designed and you feel completely immersed in nature here despite the property being just minutes from town and the beach.

Mornings start slow and with all the things there are to do in Nosara — be it surfing, ATVing, horseback riding, etc — the slow mornings roll into afternoons of new adventures. And Nalu Nosara is the best place to retreat to and recharge for the next day’s. 🥹🌿

Me & my cameras against the hospitality content world 🌎

The three cameras I take with me on every content shoot are:

📷 iPhone 16 pro & film everything on 4K @ 30fps

📷 dji mini 4 pro drone — super lightweight and easy to travel with and love the vertical orientation option for social

📷 fujifilm xt30ii for high res social optimized images

30 was a year of insane transformation.

Making the conscious and unshakable decision that it was time to take my business seriously.

Resigning from my full-time social media + content job at a tourism board (that I loved!).

Working with dream properties in Arizona, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama.

And not only taking the physical action to get closer to my goals + the life I wanted to for myself, but also becoming the person that could handle it.

Releasing limiting beliefs, having the damn audacity, knowing what alignment feels like, trusting my gut when a potential opportunity feels off, trusting my gut when it feels like a resounding yes, having faith that what’s to come is better than what’s been, opening myself up to possibility and abundance, and believing to my core, that anything is possible. Knowing that if someone else has it — be it the knowledge, skills, lifestyle, income, etc. — I can too.

Between travel, work, building Casa Social, and everything in between, this was the busiest year of my life. And it didn’t come without the growing pains, sacrifices, doubt, and exhaustion. But the work was worth it. One year ago, I could have never, in my wildest imagination, expected to be where I’m at now.

Consider this is a testament to how much our lives can really change in just twelve months. How day to day or month or month, you question whether you’re really making progress, but when you look back on the year timespan, you see the unbelievable transformation that’s occurred. 🤍

Let’s see what’s to come next in this 31st year around the sun! 🎉 by @casasocialco

Filming views, especially in sunny locations, can leave you with overexposed clips that lose all good color, definition, and quality. 😭

The first thing you can do to fix this is to hold your camera screen + drag down your exposure. Here, you already see texture and colors come back into the shot. 🌿 Be careful not to lower it sooo low that you completely lose what’s in the foreground if it’s important to the shot though.

After you’ve lowered the exposure manually in camera, you can still tweak the following settings in the editing process to further bring out the natural colors, textures, and reduce overexposed areas:

🎥 highlights
🎥 shadows
🎥 the individual color settings in the HSL settings — especially saturation & brightness
🎥 sharpness
🎥 clarity

The best way to get good at your craft is to allow yourself to be really bad at it first.

For over three years, I was the in-house creator & social media manager for a tourism board in Arizona.

This meant for three years, it was my literal job to consistently go to content shoots at restaurants, hotels, events, retail businesses, attractions, etc. to film and shoot social content. On a weekly basis, it was my job to edit videos, write captions, and be plugged into trends, shifts in the algorithm and content, and analyzing what does and doesn’t work on socials. On a monthly basis, it was digging through analytics and optimizing for better results the following month.

For over three years, I put in the content reps. And slowly, the consistent action and the reps started paying off. The content I shot started improving. From the types of shots I would capture and even the movement of my camera to the lighting I knew looked best and the ways in which I should edit videos together, it took months and months of making ahem... less than perfect work... to get to a place of noticeable transformation in quality.

The first video I ever put together for @tempetourism (shown in this video) was at a new hotel on my literal first day of work in May 2023 lol. I cry looking at it now hahaha but without showing up each day, week, month, to film a new place, edit a new video, and analyze data, I wouldn’t be where I am today (like the second video getting paid to shoot insane villas in Isla Mujeres, Mexico in July 2026).

Anything new in life requires you to be a beginner first and content is no different. So if you’re just starting your own content journey, the best advice I can give you to get better is to create, create, create. Practice filming, try new techniques, new shots, etc. Get into CapCut and edit more videos than you think you need to, experimenting with clip order, length, music, etc. and maybe the scariest part — publish. Put it out into the world. Then do it all again and again. 🤍

Day 2 (aka the first full day) of our content creator retreat set the foundation for the week ahead. 🎉

Workshop 1 was all about pre-production processes including most used gear, top filming tips, creative direction & content focus, production schedules, and shot lists.

In the afternoon, we took what we learned in the morning workshop and applied it to a hands-on content shoot — practicing filming techniques, camera movements, composition, checking shots off our shot lists, and getting real time feedback on all of it.

The retreat group learned that the work for any hotel or Airbnb shoot begins long before getting on property and that strategic pre-production is an integral part to the success of any content project!

The day wrapped up with a beachside dinner as we reflected on the day, continued to get to know one another, and prepared for a full next day ahead 🥹🤍

If a hotel has an on-site restaurant or dining experience, it definitely deserves a spot on your shot list! 🍽️

This is an example of a final deliverable I shot + edited for a boutique hotel in Valle de Guadalupe that highlighted their private sunset dinner experience. Tucked within the separate area of the outdoor hotel restaurant, guests are able to enjoy an intimate multi-course dinner experience that exceeds all expectations, with unreal dishes made from regional ingredients and seasonal flavors.

To best translate what it would actually be like to experience this dinner, I made sure to capture visuals that translate the ambiance and vibe — like the chandelier, the table set up, the small details on the table, the sunset in the background. Plus shots of the dishes themselves — close up detail shots and medium shots with multiple plates in frame, as well as motion shots of someone pouring wine.

All these types of shots are necessary ingredients for a final video that has the ability to virtually transport someone to a hotel dining experience like this.

Looking back now on this June shoot, if there’s anything I wish I would’ve added, it’d definitely be more motion shots — hands turning plates, picking up cups, food on a fork, scooping up sorbet on a spoon, but you know... something to remember for next time 💃🏽
