A writer's notebook entry exploring the tropes that emerged organically while writing 'The Bridge Remembers'" New Orleans raised me. The Magnolia and Melpomene projects taught me. The Causeway still haunts me.

THE BRIDGE REMEMBERS is a literary fiction novel about survival, identity, and disappearing.

I've been writing this story for decades—in notebooks, folders, sketchbooks, on napkins, in the quiet hours after midnight when the city finally goes still. It started as a lucid dream. Then drawings. Now I'm writing it. I can't stop my hand from moving.

A motorcycle chase on a bridge. Then I started to wonder... what if that bridge actually remembered you in its own kind of way? What if it watched and felt you running across its aged concrete? What if it knew who you were before you even knew yourself? What if you took something back with you that is still there, moving around like smoke inside you, waiting for you to get angry? What if it has control over you even three decades later—your thinking, your actions, your ability to remember anything?

What if?

There were sixteen year-old boys that were Drug dealers and criminals who could actually sketch and draw concept cars who lived triple lives that were also serious, respected businessmen and Ghosts that race for sport late at night with houses that forget who owns them.

Weapons and modified high-performance machines as wives and girlfriends and haunting hooded shadow figures standing on a bridge called the Causeway, watching, waiting for their mistake.

This is the story New Orleans taught me to tell. About a rare time and space in the late '80s—a world the Ridahs who survived it but are still trying to figure out in 2026 be what it is. Because they can't forget the secrets.

A sneak peek:
A writer's notebook entry exploring the tropes that emerged organically while writing 'The Bridge Remembers
"People think survival is loud. It isn't. The loud part ends when the sirens disappear. Survival begins after the chaos—when it's quiet and you're finally alone with your shadow, and he starts talking deep. When your hands won't stop shaking. When your heartbeat feels like it's trying to remember it's allowed to be human again. That's the dangerous part. That's when you start drinking and thinking. That's when the shadow takes ownership of the narrative."

Hello everyone,

My name is Ramone CASBORN, and I'm excited and grateful to be able to share this story inside a new community where writers can learn from one another, exchange creative ideas, and grow through every stage of real experiences as I navigate through my authors publishing journey successfully.

I'm currently working on my debut novel, "THE BRIDGE REMEMBERS",It's a literary work that blends psychological horror, speculative fiction, coming-of-age, crime, and Southern Gothic storytelling. Set in and around New Orleans during the late 80s, the novel explores memory, identity, brotherhood, trauma, creativity, and the invisible forces that shape the people we become. At its heart, it's a story about what we choose to remember, what the world asks us to forget, and the cost of remaining authentic.

I'm currently in the late manuscript polishing and editing stage. The core story is complete, and I'm refining the prose, strengthening the structure, and preparing the manuscript for its final professional editing and publication. My goal is to produce a novel that is both emotionally resonant and commercially viable while staying true to its literary vision.

Right now, the areas where I hope to learn the most are:

Connecting with experienced writers and authors who can offer thoughtful feedback and industry insight

Before turning to fiction, I spent more than three decades as a fine artist , professional automotive designer, AI tech startup founder , and creator , where I learned that every successful project begins with a strong foundation and careful craftsmanship. I bring that same mindset to my new found love for creative writing and storytelling, I'm learning new ways daily of approaching each chapter with patience, revision, and a commitment to building something meaningful.

I look forward to learning from anyone who is on a similar journey as mine , feel free to DM for ongoing dialogue,I would be more than happy to talk real with everyone here, contributing where I can, and supporting fellow writers on their own creative journeys.

Before the motorcycles.
Before the police lights.
Before disappearing became a way of life.

He took things apart just to understand how they worked.

What is that?
How does it work?
Can I make it faster?

A writer's notebook entry exploring the tropes that emerged organically while writing 'The Bridge Remembers-: -Before the streets ever taught him how to survive…

In 1982 ,he was just innocent.“BOOGADIE” .

Before the thousand-yard stare.
Before the motorbikes.
Before the unknown cash.
Before the police lights.
Before disappearing became a way of life.

He was a curious creative New Orleans kid who took things apart just to understand how they worked.

A boy fascinated by racing engines.
By a boss 302 mustangs speed.
By his father’s ’69 Camaro.
By the sound of his grandmother laughing late at night with him .
By the lessons his grandfather taught him with a book of wisdom in his hand.

His eyes weren’t watching for danger yet.

They were still asking:

“What is that? Can I see?”

The streets didn’t create Boogadie.

They created the armor he would eventually need to protect Raul.

And somewhere beneath everything he becomes, that innocent little boy is still in there creating.

That is where his story really begins.

THE BRIDGE REMEMBERS"NIGHT CLUB HIGH" A writer's notebook entry exploring the tropes that emerged organically while writing 'The Bridge Remembers-: THE SCHOOL IS A LIVING THING

The school "inhaled" .

That's the only way to describe it.

Students weren't leaving at the final bell. They were changing. Backpacks disappeared first. attitudes loosened. Laughter deepened. Something older emerged—something that had been waiting beneath the concrete and foundation all along.

The lockers hum. The fluorescent lights flicker. The hallways rearrange themselves when you're not looking.

This isn't a high school.

It's a mental prison cage.

Designed to keep you from leaving. Designed to make you forget you're trapped. Designed to erase the real version of you, before you ever had a chance to exist.

But some of us remember.

We find the doors that don't exist. We follow the hallways that shouldn't be there. We arrive before the consensus catches up.

Welcome to Night Club High.

"The Bridge Remembers"

Coming soon.
