Another little post about me 🌸

This one includes some other forms of media that I enjoy outside of books. If we have similar tastes than let's be friends. ☺️

Below the five is a picture of a girl with light skin tone, and shoulder-length light brown hair that curls at the ends. She is wearing a light grey top with a pattern of light pink flowers across it. The background is tinted pink and shows an open book with three pink tulips laid atop it. My Fall TBR πŸ‚

There are so many books I want to read this fall! I'm not sure I'll be able to read all of them, but I'm going to try to read as many as I can. In fact, I've already started The Library of the Unwritten!

Which ones should I prioritize? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

I will always read the popular books. Anytime I see a book getting a lot of attention on social media I immediately add it to my library hold list. πŸ“šπŸ“±

These are a few books that I thought were worth the hype, those that disappointed me, and a few underrated books that I wish were talked about more.

Have you read any of these? Do you agree of disagree with my rankings? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡ by @cascadingpages

Book First Lines ✍️

A good first line is everything! They set the stage, and can really hook you and make you want to know more about a story. Here are some books that I thought did that really well:

🩷 Scythe
🩷 The Familiar
🩷 The Space Between Here & Now
🩷 Strange the Dreamer
🩷 Revelle
🩷The Library of the Unwritten

Which one's your favourite? Let me know in the comments.πŸ‘‡

I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell β€’ 2⭐️

πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Age: Adult
✨ Genre: Urban Fantasy
πŸ“± Format: Ebook

This was almost like Katabasis if it were a rom-com. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of this book. It came off as flat and surface-level. Most of the dialogue consisted of short, blunt sentences with little to no emotion, and as a result, I struggled to feel anything for the characters. I actually found Brie pretty useless and annoying. She also thinks McDonald's fries are the worst, which greatly offended me. To make matters worse, the world-building was underdeveloped and full of plot holes. As a whole, the book read really awkward and sloppy to me. I was hoping for a little more depth and nuance. While the idea was fun, this needed a ton more development.

What are your thoughts on McDonald's fries? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

My hold list on Libby is packed with recent releases! There are 37 books on there right now, and I'm looking forward to every single one of them!

I've actually reached the hold limit on my best library card, and now need to wait to for some of these to become available so I can add more. πŸ₯²

Have you read any of these? Are any also on your tbr? Let me know in the comments.πŸ‘‡ 'What's on my Libby hold list' is at the top, written in white, uppercase text. The Inevitable Undoing of Zahara Douglass β€’ 5⭐️

πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Age: Adult
✨ Genre: Urban Fantasy
πŸ“± Format: Ebook

I was immediately intrigued by the unique concept of this book. I mean, her twin sister disappears, and suddenly nobody remembers her; how could I not pick this up? The atmosphere is quite mysterious. At first, I wasn't sure where the story was headed, as her father's tapes about Vietnam and her sister's journals and emails felt disconnected from the main narrative. However, once I reached the halfway point, everything came together, the stakes doubled, and things became truly intense! It was at that point that I really began to enjoy the book. I also found the discussions about the impact of technology on our lives interesting. Even though this is a historical novel, I thought it also reflected today's society, especially with the rise of AI. Overall, this was a compelling read. While the final chapter left some loose ends that made me wonder if there might be a sequel, I'm satisfied with the ending we got, even if there isn't one.

What was the last book that had you instantly hooked? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

Silvercloak β€’ 3.5 ⭐️

πŸ“š Series: Silvercloak Saga 1/3
πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Age: Adult
βš”οΈ Genre: Fantasy
πŸ“± Format: Ebook

The plot of this book was similar to many I’ve read, which made it predictable. That said, it was quite dark, which surprised and often disturbed me. I found the world-building really interesting, and I became more invested in the story the further I got into it. Still, something felt slightly off about the character writing. They seemed strangely inconsistent and did a lot of dumb things, which annoyed me. Also, I found the two main characters a little overpowered for my liking. So even though this had a lot of potential, I had mostly mixed feelings by the end.

Have you read this yet? Let me know what your thoughts were in the comments! πŸ‘‡

You'll Love It Here β€’ 5⭐️

πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Age: Adult
πŸ™οΈ Genre: Contemporary, Humour
πŸ“± Format: Ebook

Natalie Sue's books are always super fun and heartwarming. This one was relatable to me as someone who lives in a smaller building. Overall, I found this book very similar to I Hope This Finds You Well in terms of plot and characters. I was very invested in the tenants' lives. They were all realistically flawed, and even though they seemed unlikable at first, you come to care for them by the end. There was also a sweet romance subplot. While the ending was predictable, it was really satisfying. I think this book would be perfect for anyone looking for something lighthearted and hopeful!Β
