Every time I’ve felt truly free, there was structure underneath it holding me up.

When we get back into our bodies — really into them — something loosens. The noise quiets down. And underneath it there’s a knowing that was there the whole time, just waiting for us to be quiet enough to hear it.

I want everyone to know what that kind of self-trust feels like, so I’ve partnered with @peoples_pilates to host a fundraising event on September 12th.

First, we move. An hour on the reformer with @soryapao , outside, in the last of the September light. Your body gets loud and your head gets quiet, which is exactly where the rest of the night needs you.

We break for light bites. Then we work — two hours together on the questions that matter. What do you actually want? And what structures do you need to build so you can be who you’re here to be?

You’ll leave with clarity, and a plan you trust yourself to keep.

(You’ll also leave in a full @lskd.usa outfit — they’re gifting one to every single participant, so you’ve got exactly what you need the next time you show up for yourself.)

Every dollar goes to @imagine1day , a nonprofit working toward a goal I believe in: all Ethiopians with access to quality education, funded free of foreign aid, by 2045. Your night of coming home to yourself helps build someone else’s classroom.

It’s Lucy’s season. She loves cold air, walking everywhere, talking all the time, stealing things that aren’t hers, fluffy stuffed animals, Christmas lights, calling the shots, and staring out the window.

When she’s older, we’ll let her choose when she wants to celebrate her birthday. And for now, Christmas season is hers.

Hue and I flew down for a quick trip to see family. Her favorite part was eating chocolate sorbet.

In other news, my nephew called me “Auntie Sessie” which sounded like “Auntie Sassy” and that is now my favorite name ever. @elloitsmello , thanks for making one of my favorite people. by @caseycarrionorrell

Yesterday, I did a vision workshop with @jackicarr She asked us to vision 5 years out and instead of doing that, I checked my email.

5 years didn’t feel like enough time—I wanted a vision with kids in school and me with more time.

At the end of that activity, she asked us to ask our future selves a question.

When I did this with Jacki 8 years ago, my future self told me to “let it be good.” This has been a call to lighten up, not wait for the other shoe to drop. It’s created quite a lot of happiness in my life!

Not wanting to miss out on seeing my future self again, I dropped in right at that time and asked myself “How am I going to do it all?” expecting her to say something like “You can’t. You have to prioritize and choose.” And instead, she said:

“Moment by moment. Breath by breath. Happy memory by happy memory.”
