POSTS STORIES REELS

I figured it’s about time I introduced myself!

Hi, I’m Casey! I’m a queer woman living in the DC area with my spouse and our three cats, Teddy, Duke, and Donut.

I’ve always enjoyed painting my nails, and would go through periods of either frequently painting or no polish at all. Then at the end of 2023 I discovered the indie polish world and it quickly became an obsession, so much that I made this account to have somewhere to talk about it all!

My other hobbies are reading - all genres, but my loves are YA and sci-fi/fantasy - and video games - mostly cozies on Switch.

Tell me something about yourself! And thank you to all of you for making this nail community so friendly and welcoming! by @caseythelacquerist

MEET THE CATS
It’s time to introduce everyone to my kitties! My spouse and I have three boy cats: Teddy the black and white cat and Duke and Donut, orange and white littermates. All three are rescues.

1. Teddy is about 14 years old and we adopted him at ~3 years old. In the ten years we’ve had him, he’s gone from a nervous guy who peed everywhere to a snuggle monster who must be touching a human at all times. He loves a belly rub, which is extra cute due to his white belly and armpits. He’s a kind soul who has never scratched or bitten, except accidentally when trying to grab a bite of chicken out of your hand.

2. Duke is the first of the orange pair we adopted at about 12 weeks old, now about 2 years old. He is a delicate baby who tiptoes around and gets spooked easily, making his tail puff up like a raccoon. He loves sitting on your lap, getting his forehead pet, and is an ace bug catcher. He and Teddy bonded quickly and they take cuddle naps together all the time.

3. Donut is Duke’s brother and a tornado in cat form. He has endless energy and is very chatty, and he’ll holler at you until you play with him. His favorite toy is trash of any variety: if he hears the crinkle of paper or plastic he comes running. He has knocked over candles and put scratches in the walls, but he has the loudest purr I’ve ever heard because he just wants to be your best friend. by @caseythelacquerist

[ @lynbdesigns #gifted ] For November’s @polishpickup LynB Designs is bringing us a magentic cousin of fan favorite shade Dudley Nudshite. This is Betty Nudshite, a dark blue leaning purple base with green to aqua to blue shifting shimmer and ghostly pale green magnetic pull inspired by antique belladonna bottles.

PPU is open November 6-9. This polish will be $13.50 with no cap.

#ManisForHumanity : Dia de los Muertos. We celebrated the Day of the Dead for October’s collab theme. Marigolds are often used to anchor the ofrendas people make for this observance, so I have represented those here.

Thank you @vexed.lacquer and @nailshewore for hosting this round! #diadelosmuertosmanis26 by @caseythelacquerist

In October, I turned 40.

I dog sat.

I began learning to make nail polish.

I saw the Spirit clinch a playoff spot.

I did ace flag ghost nails.

I watched Nebraska crush UMD.

I continued to have the cutest cats. by @caseythelacquerist

Happy birthday @i.havenails ! I hope you have the best day full of birds and video games and shimmery nail polish! This is @luridlacquer Purple Coneflower to try and fulfill that last part for you, ha.

#GamersClubCollab : Creepy games. I don’t play a lot of scary games, so for this I went with one that has more of a creepy vibe than creepy story - Hollow Knight. This polish is Infected Crossroads by @arcanalacquer inspired by the game.

Happy Asexuality Awareness Week! If you weren’t aware that I’m on the ace spectrum, you are now!

Earlier this year, @_aceingrace_ debuted a new, more inclusive ace flag, and I’m representing that with the colors in this mani. Then I added little ghosties because SPOOPY.

Asexuality is a widely misunderstood orientation, and I hope you will take this week to seek out ace creators and learn more about what it means to be ace.

@beeskneeslacquer A Lion With A Thorn In Its Paw 3.0 - I finally gave into the hype around this one and picked it up when it came back for the millionth time for PPU Rewind. And, uh, hey did you all know how good this shade is? Lol. Truly though, I love it sooo much.

@jandberries What’s The Elvish Word For Friend? - I regretted not buying this when the LOTR x @lovemesomesparkle collection came out, so I made sure to snap it up at PBE. And look how pretty it is! I love that grape jelly base under the flakie bomb.
