I think a common worry before family sessions is “what if my kids don’t cooperate?!” and being a parent of strong-willed, free-spirited children, I. GET. IT. This is why I encourage you to play, explore, and let THEM lead. This session is such a great example of that. Sweet boy was determined to do anything but take photos, but you’d never know it.

There are many things you can do to set your kids up for success, for all ages.
•hype this up - it’s going to be fun, we’re going to explore together, share an experience together, let them know WHY this is important to you and the heart of it
•choose a location that is meaningful, quiet, or maybe even new - I am a huge help with this and a wealth of knowledge
•LET GO and let them lead - run, twirl, be silly, collect rocks, have a tickle cuddle puddle, and let go of the Pinterest perfectionism: the best images and memories happen when you let loose and enjoy yourself
•trust the process - I’m here to guide you and after 6 years, I’ve got plenty of tricks up my sleeve, am a chaos magic-maker, and have hundreds upon hundreds of beautiful galleries to prove it 😉

If it’s now January 6th can this still count as a New Year’s intro post?! It’s me, Casey!!! The goofy girl behind the camera. I am SO glad you are here and that I have the opportunity to capture you in this season of your life. If you’re new around these parts, welcome to my silly little corner of the internet! It’s not perfect one bit, but I am loving learning to show up as I am and embrace this crazy beautiful journey. Things you definitely CAN expect here - big goofy laughs and smiles, tears, truths, and hardships, moments of humility, lots of understanding and empathy, and kindness and love for all. I am so excited and humbled to continue to showcase the work I create with the most wonderful clients, and share more about my process and client experience. The honor of viewing and telling your story is not lost on me, and is the heart of this business. I hope that we have the opportunity to chat and connect, and thanks for being here - it means the absolute world to me that you are supporting my small business and family!

Your children will never have to perform for me.
We don’t have to smile perfectly, sit still, stare at the camera, or be on their very best behavior.
In fact, I’d rather they DIDN’T! 🥰
At your session, I want your child to be: a child! Silly. Shy. Curious. Wild. They can run, climb on a parent, snuggle in, point at the sky, make silly faces, get distracted by cool things at our super special location, explore, take breaks, and just be a kid.
You never have to apologize to me if they aren’t “cooperating,” or frankly, apologize at all. I’m not waiting for your child to perform for a photograph, I’m watching to see who they are when they are comfortable, and I’m admiring how you love them through it.
So pleaseeee: love on your babies, play with them, tell them stories, sing songs, follow their lead, laugh through the chaos, and let them BE LITTLE. From my own learned experience: you’ll miss them exactly like this 🥹✨
Your only job is to be together. I’ll take care of the rest 😉

p.s. these sweet friends of mine have trusted me for many important memories, and I’m so humbled by that.
