OMGgggg!! Is an understatement. I am BEYOND excited to announce that I was one of the winners of the @seismicdanceevent contest to earn a spot to play! SO! Here we are 🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭. When I got the message that I was one of the winners I literally cried. Words cannot describe how it felt in that moment. It was surreal.
I submitted a set that is not my usual, a set that I really went outside of my usual box. And I loved that set. So here we are…. What a dream come true. I said it in my little montage that I created on the day I got the news, and I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for all of your love and support!!! Yall have been the absolute best. 😭. Thank you 🙏

My mottos that got me here… It never hurts to try. Never hurts to put yourself out there. Never hurts to go outside of your usual box. Do it.

DJ Casie Farrell is a Texas-based electronic artist known for high-energy sets blending techno, tech house, and breaks. Since beginning her DJ journey at 35, she has performed at Seismic Dance Event, Burning Man, ADE Amsterdam, and venues across the U.S., supporting artists including Mike Dunn, Gettoblaster, Bruno Furlan, Oostil, and Offaiah. Vulnerable post and probably over sharing, but it’s just life, and we all have stuff, so here we go.

30 interviews, 175 applications, 5 months later, I LANDED A NEW JOB! 🤗🤗

These past 5 months have been some of the most mentally challenging in my life. Being transparent, there was a layoff at my last company and it was very unexpected. If you have ever been laid off, you know it is a very daunting and humbling experience. You are constantly questioning yourself, your capabilities in life, if you are worthy of anything really, and the day to day rejection of a role that you are perfectly or over qualified for, really makes you feel like s*it! Dj’ing yes, I’m always doing it, but in case you didn’t know, I typically have a full time job that allows me to do what I love, DJ’ing, and traveling, although one day obviously the dream would be to do this full time, the reality is, that’s not where I’m at. These past 5 months on some days it was hard to get up, stay motivated, and keep on going. In my story there are some tips if you find yourself in a similar predicament (I’m no expert, but this is my experience).

If you saw me out these past 5 months you maybe noticed I was off, it’s because I was! If I’m being completely honest, sometimes it was hard to be in such a fun, uplifting space when I was feeling so down. People would ask, “How are you?” And while of course I’m appreciative of anyone even caring or asking how I am, oftentimes it was hard to answer ‘good,’ because that wasn’t the truth at all most of the time. I don’t like to lie or mislead people but who wants to talk about being down all of the time! NO ONE! That being said, if it wasn’t for Dj’ing, the community, the music and the people I have surrounded myself with, these 5 months would have been 100 times more difficult.
