As a photographer, the scariest thing you can realize is that you’ve gone completely blind.

I take my camera with me everywhere, but lately, I haven’t been taking any photos. I just couldn't see the frames anymore. Complete freedom sounds incredible, but honestly? It completely paralyzed me.

So, I’m stripping it all away.

In collaboration with @sigmafotobenelux - this is: One Camera. One Lens. One Year.

For the next 12 months, I am shooting exclusively with the Sigma BF. No gear swapping, no endless choices.

Just strict discipline to see what happens when you take away all the possibilities.

I’ll be documenting this whole process in monthly videos, broken down into three chapters:

1. Self-reflection
2. Self-care
3. Self-improvement

I don't know if this will cure my creative burnout. I'm not looking for the perfect answer, just an answer.

Chapter 1 started. If you've ever felt stuck or lost the passion for what you do, I'd love for you to follow along. taken in The Netherlands by @caspargim

Do you love Amsterdam?

The September Edition of One Camera One Lens One Year has been released: all those photographs were taken with SIGMA BF • 45mm F2.8 DG DN | CONTEMPORARY.

I'll soon be sharing the video covering my first month with the SIGMA BF – I'm excited to share my experiences, self-reflection, and "enlightenment" from using it.

Over the past decade, I've walked around Amsterdam, and for roughly the last 3-4 years, I've done so with a camera. I'm familiar with the city's essential characteristics and know where to go to capture specific types of photos.

September was the month when I revisited my favorite streets, using my past years' work as a reference, and enjoyed the process of photography.

Which photo among these is your favorite?

The initial weeks using the Sigma BF with the 45mm f/2.8 involved revisiting familiar streets in Amsterdam; however, with the T&O filter applied, Amsterdam appeared different once more.

I expected to become familiar with the 45mm, but this focal length appears quite similar to what my eyes perceive.

Also, the fact that the BF lacks a viewfinder didn't bother me in the slightest. However, I must confess that I brought the camera up to my eye level, only to realize I was just looking at a large screen🤣🤭 taken in Amsterdam by @caspargim

I often find myself thinking "Should I ask for a photo?" as I walk past people, only to walk back and ask.

The fear of rejection is the biggest bottleneck. It's a mix of small humiliations, disappointment, and self-doubt. But once you think about it, you ask yourself: what could possibly go wrong? Let's find out. Let's see what happens. Don't just dwell on the what-ifs.

Thank you to these lovely people in Amsterdam for saying yes, shaking hands, and posing for the camera. It was a pleasure meeting you all.

All photos are shot on X100V, FUJIFILM • Freewell Lens Hood and Thump Grip • Cuban Classic Neg film simulation with minor tweak - wearing the AERODYNE HEART of Marloe Watch Company. taken in Amsterdam by @caspargim

Photographer's note:
I wanted the shadows to do most of the talking here. Instead of trying to show every detail in a dark tunnel or under a cloudy sky, I just let the darkness take over.

By setting my camera for the brightest spots, everything else naturally goes pitch black. This turns people into solid, dark shapes, hiding distractions like faces or clothing so you only see their outlines. With a little rough grain and heavy contrast, a normal daily walk suddenly looks like a scene from an old movie.

What's your favorite picture here?

Photographer's Note:
The POWERSHOT V1 was the ideal companion for documenting these moments. It proved to be a wonderful solution for my creative burnout.

Its portability meant I could easily take it anywhere, and its low threshold for creating high-quality content helped me release my own expectations regarding output.

The V1's size didn't reflect its capabilities. The B&W filtered JPEGs are incredibly good straight out of the camera, handling the basics exceptionally well and delivering amazing photos.

The V1 really changed my perspective on gear setup; it just covers all my needs.

All photos are shot on the Canon PowerShot V1 in Amsterdam.

What's your favorite?

All photos were taken on the X100V in Amsterdam. January 2026.

Currently exploring this Oosterdok area of Amsterdam; whenever the kids are busy at the OBA, I simply take my time to walk around with the camera. Although it's a short session, it's enough to take photos. taken in Amsterdam by @caspargim

I'm experimenting with the X100V, capturing Amsterdam's daily moments, we all would've just missed.
