I went quiet for 75 days.

Not because I had some big plan. I was flat out. Content had done its job so well that clients trusted me before we’d even spoken, and I ran out of hours.

What the video doesn’t say is how much of my content I used to hate. Posting in bursts. Editors who didn’t get it. Chasing deadlines that kept slipping.

The one person who did get it was @davolarkin . He made the content that changed my business. So when I asked how I could repay him, his answer was “build a company with me.”

10 years today since my best friend passed.

I miss you every single day, Dad. Genuinely.

The older I get, the more grateful I am for what we had. For the lessons you taught me while you were here, and for the ones you’re still teaching me through the letter you left me to read after you passed.

You left me a letter. So 10 years on, I wrote you one back.

Loss is a weird one. It doesn’t turn up on a schedule. It hits at different times, in different ways, sometimes years later. When I was younger I don’t think I really let myself grieve. I was 15 and doing whatever I had to do to get through, keeping my mind busy so I didn’t have to sit with it.

It took me a long time to learn that busy isn’t the same as okay.

Some of the biggest lessons since:
→ Grief doesn’t run on a timeline. Let it come when it comes.
→ Do the work on yourself. Be present with your actual thoughts, even the heavy ones.
→ Reach out. Tell the people around you when you need more care. I wish I’d done it sooner.
→ There is always a solution. Your words, and I still live by them.
→ Have as much fun as you can, every single chance you get.

I can be hard on myself. Some days it feels like I’m never quite where I should be. But today I can sit here, look at that page and mean every word of this.
