POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I keep seeing people post their book’s trade reviews ahead of publication, and since my social media philosophy seems to be better way late than never, ever, I figured I should finally post all the wonderful pre-pub reviews But Art Is Awful! received all those months ago. 😁😊😉

Thanks so much @kirkus_reviews, @sljournal, & @ala_booklist!

But Art Is Awful! is out now from @abramskids wherever books are sold!

✨🎨🖼️ Happy Book Birthday to BUT ART IS AWFUL! 🖼️🎨✨

We’re the opposite of grumpy as we celebrate the release of this wonderful new picture book by CAT creators Cassi McCreight and Xindi Yan! @cassi.mccreight @xindiyanart This masterpiece is available now from @abramskids 🎨❤️🖼️

A hilarious picture book about an endearing little crank who thinks the museum is absolutely awful . . . or is it actually awesome?

Art can be a lot of things―wondrous, inspiring, transformative . . . but mostly it’s boring!

And visiting an art museum? Double boring! Come along with a curmudgeonly young boy―who’s more interested in finger painting his cat than “admiring art”―as he’s taken to the local museum by his well-meaning mother.

Seriously, what’s so great about scribbles and squares and dots? OK, sure, that portrait made of cubes is kind of cool. And those sculptures made of clay are pretty awesome . . . Gasp! Maybe he does like art after all?! Well, would that be so awful?

Witty and informative (but never boring!), author Cassi McCreight and Xindi Yan, illustrator of the New York Times-bestselling Busy Betty series, have paired up to create a laugh-out-loud romp all about art appreciation.

With nods to famous artists and art movements on every page, and back matter explaining each movement through a kid-friendly voice, young readers will soon find themselves eager to visit their local art museum or make masterpieces of their own. by @cassi.mccreight

💕🏠 Homebodies, unite! 🏠💕 We cannot contain our excitement for HOMEBODIES ALL YEAR LONG, a CAT collaboration turned dream come true! Written by Cassi McCreight (@cassi.mccreight), and illustrated by Thai My Phuong (@thai.phuong.artwork), we can hardly wait for this wholesome story to grow its roots on bookshelves everywhere.

Lois Evans at Knopf acquired world rights to Homebodies All Year Long by Cassi McCreight, illustrated by Thai My Phuong, the story of a house—and a family—who create a home nobody ever wants to leave.

Publication is set for fall 2027 from @knopfyoungreaders, Christie Megill at the CAT Agency represented the author, and Christy Ewers at the CAT Agency represented the illustrator. 🏡💕 by @cassi.mccreight

Tbh, I am very happy with how my creator video turned out despite my over complicating things as usual.

Though, I’m even MORE happy with how the actual book is coming along, because @thai.phuong.artwork is doing truly wonderful work with the illustrations, because of course she is!!! 🤩🥰🥹

So, look out for our book, HOMEBODIES: TOGETHER THROUGH THE SEASONS, coming next fall from the equally wonderful team at Knopf Books for Young Readers! ❄️🌸☀️🍁🏠♥️

(Btw, the scene is from the Frasier episode entitled “The Gift Horse” (S5,E2) wherein Martin turns sex-ty five, Niles (and Frasier) buy him an old horse, and every one is momentarily reflective.) by @cassi.mccreight

And today… postcards! I just can’t wait to send these to kids whilst they await their first Whimsy Crate! (Yeah, I’m getting pretty good at writing copy. 😉)

Special thanks to my resident editor (and rock polisher), Alex. (Though, I still think ‘books & toys & games & stories’ is not a “mouthful,” and I WILL make it work somewhere!)

(I just read him *this* copy and he said, “Mom, I thought editors were supposed to give their honest opinion.” I am both proud and annoyed. 😂)

And flow on, Dolly, my forever role model. 👑 by @cassi.mccreight

Welp! I disappeared down a deep, deep hole trying to get our Shopify site up and ready, so I (of course) went way over board today on a shiny, new task — designing our new subscriber welcome gift… READING LOGS!!! 🥳

Because what do kids love to do after they read a book? Write about it, of course! 🤣

(Hopefully it was the right decision all around, but I never know for sure. 🙃) by @cassi.mccreight

Meant to post this when I got home from the doctor this morning, but… I locked my keys in the car and had to call a locksmith and wait an hour, then my phone almost ran out of battery because it was active all night trying to sync to iCloud because it’s now barely getting by with its no storage and old a** operating system. I wish I was making this up. Seriously, I’ll take any advice. 🫠
