Rapid City, South Dakota

On this trip we got the blessing of partnering with Love INC and a local church’s VBS. This trip taught me so much and convicted me about the life I should strive to live.

1. Reward the Lord with your yes. God doesn’t equip the ready, He equips those with a willing heart. I was hesitant to say yes to this internship in the beginning. Fear has a funny way of trying to prevent you from opportunities! There were so many unknowns, however in the end I decided to say yes. Saying yes to serving the Lord in such an intimate and powerful way was the best yes I’ve ever given. I could never have accounted for the ways these trips have touched my heart and truly brought me closer to God.

2. God’s plan is always the best plan. So often I think I need to have a plan and have expectations for what my life will look like. Yes, these are good things, but constantly I hold onto them so tightly that I miss what blessings the Lord has given me. Each trip brought new obstacles where plans would be changed—whether that was getting stuck alone in the airport overnight or it was a change in job sites. Each of these obstacles allowed me to meet new people and share my story! I learned I need to trust His heart rather than my own understanding. John 13:7 says, “What I am doing—you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.”

3. Mission work doesn’t stop just because you aren’t serving on an “actual” trip. While in Costa Rica, I was convicted by one of the interns that so often we use mission trips as an excuse not to serve in our own communities. God doesn’t just call us to serve around the world, but also to serve where we reside. There are needs unable to be met everywhere and we get the honor of serving each day in our own hometowns. Mission work is every day, every moment. Not just in the places we go to serve. by @cassidy__bos

San Jose, Costa Rica

Thank you for teaching me so much about community and the importance of being present with one another. This mission brought me life long friendships and a gratefulness for vulnerability and a willingness to get to know others. We shy away from meeting new people and allow for earthly distractions to catch our focus and pull us away from connection. It also halts us from having full dependency in Christ. Costa Rica allowed me to shift my focus to the here and now and be present with the church we served and with the groups we worked alongside. Thank you Jesus for this opportunity for the people you placed on this mission. Serving You is such a gift. by @cassidy__bos

Antigua, Guatemala

I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve been blessed in so many ways this week. I left Antigua with a heart overflowing with so much joy and love. I began this trip not knowing anyone in the groups and left with many new friendships I will forever cherish. I never realized how hard it would be to leave a place I had only spent a week in and yet here I am. Thank you Jesus for blessing me with a mission that made saying goodbye so hard.
Our Lord is so faithful. Not only in the relationships He built, but also how we were served and how we were able to serve. The people of Guatemala truly blessed me by praying over us, welcoming us into their homes, and allowing us to enjoy their city.
On this mission, God allowed us to serve by building two houses for a family as well as run three medical clinics. I was able to clearly see the wonder and joy of the little children in Guatemala. As well as see people who truly understand contentment in what God has provided them with. Lord, restore that wonder and gratitude in me. I pray for a full sense of awe, not only for our God’s creation but also for the God we get to serve. I pray that I will be able to serve this beautiful place again. Asheville, NC

This mission trip was transformative in a number of ways. It allowed me to achieve a new level boldness in my faith and created such a love for the people here. God was present in every moment we spent in Asheville. It was so evident in the conversations I had with teammates, but also the people the Lord allowed me to interact with along the way and on various job sites. The Lord has instilled joy not only in the teams serving, but also in the individuals who are being served. This year, I got the opportunity to work closely with under resourced individuals and families. It changed my perspective on how we view others. Each of us are made in the image of our Savior regardless of where they are at in life right now. I saw kindness and genuine joy in the people we got to work alongside. They were simply thankful for our work. Thank you Jesus for exceeding my expectations with this mission and allowing us to do Your Kingdom work. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with and for. Let it all be for Your glory! by @cassidy__bos
