I can’t believe my baby is SIX! 🥹💙 He loves birthdays—his own and everyone else’s—so naturally, we celebrated his for at least a couple of weeks and talked about it for even longer. 🥱

He even got his big brother to come into town for his actual birthday week! And the week before that my dad helped us cook a feast, and Parrain (LSU’s Sign Man) dedicated his sign to Hayes for the Ole Miss game! 🐯💜💛

I can’t believe it’s been one whole year without this guy. 🩵 If you knew me, you knew him. He was my grandpa, but we were the best of friends.

We always looked out for each other. People would always laugh because he and I would text back and forth—even when he was 97 years old!

He used to pick me up from school, and we would laugh and sing, “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die).” Then, when he could no longer drive, I would pick him up, and we would laugh and sing that same song together.

He was the epitome of resilience. His mild manner and self-control were his superpowers. He was loved by everyone, and I was so blessed to learn from him. He taught me so much, and I’m forever thankful for all the time I got to have with him.

Birthday shout-out to one of my oldest friends @lyndeesneighborgoods ! ❤️

We spent some time on the phone today rehashing old memories, as we usually do. We have SO many stories to tell, and she doesn’t forget a thing! Me? I actually enjoy forgetting. 😂

Like that time I broke her nose in middle school. I don’t know who thought signing her up for softball was a good idea, @theflourdiaries , but she should NOT have been out there! Not my fault! 😂 But hey, it makes for a good story—and one she will never let me forget!

We married and were separated by many miles 21 years ago. And I have news for y’all: long-distance relationships really can last when there is effort & love involved.

She keeps me in check, and we are the kind of friends who keep it real with each other. She is a true gem, a great woman, and I am blessed to call her one of my best friends.

When life gives you limóns🍋‍🟩, make key lime pie!

The last couple of weeks came with a few unexpected challenges, but nothing was going to ruin my birthday trip. I mean, being locked out of “the cloud” for 10 days certainly tried—but instead, I chose to embrace being unplugged (with only a few minor withdrawal symptoms 😅).

If you ever visit Key West, I highly recommend renting a Jeep and making the drive down the Keys. Scooters are a must for zipping around town and a snorkeling trip to a secluded island that ends with a picnic? Absolutely top-tier. ✨🍋‍🟩🚙🏝️ by @cassie_comer
