Our sweet boy came to us only 6 short months ago. I saw a Facebook post someone found him in the middle of the winter night. He was cold, scared and alone. I’ve shared his story online so I felt it was right to share everything that has happened in the past week, too. Our boy came to us with a uti, double ear infection, overweight, Giardia, fleas, heartworm and more. He spent the last 6 months constantly going to the vet, taking sometimes over 6 pills per meal to fight through his horrible disease that went untreated for who knows how long. Throughout all of it he was happy all the time, greeted everyone with love and was Penny’s favorite big brother. Working remotely, he has been by my side for the past 6 months and has become a very important part of our family. On Sunday night he had labored breathing and so I took him to OSU emergency vet right when they opened. I thought I was being overly cautious until they pulled me into a room and told me about the large mass on his spleen.. 😞. After further testing they also found a mass in his chest causing the labored breathing, and swollen lymph nodes all over his body. Given the diagnosis we headed home and tried to make his remaining days as comfortable and happy as possible to give him the best days ever. Duke has gone through so much in the past 6 months and he had end of life today. He got his favorite Chic fil a sandwich, a maple bacon Amy’s Donut (only the best for my baby), and a chocolate brownie with rainbow sprinkles. I truly feel like we needed him so much more than he ever knew ❤️‍🩹. If you’ve read this far thank you for caring about him ❤️🌈🕊️ by @cassjenney
