I wanted to take the chance to thank all my new followers for joining the cult of fashion and weird history I'm trying to create! I wanted to drop some personal lore about myself to help everyone get to know the person behind the inch of makeup.

Chatting to Grace was a real pleasure, and having the context behind the costumes. Their historical basis as assisted by @eleanorhoughtonhistorian and their creation was a really great insight as I saw the costumes up close and in person at @rainhamhall yesterday, a gorgeous house which served as a filming location for the film.

I really can't recommend the movie enough! Such a wonderful translation of Austen's work.

Join me as I show you a technique for creating Tudor slashing using modern synthetic fabrics that you can buy in your local fabric store.

All you will need is a synthetic fabric (I chose a polyester duchess satin from @minervadotcom ), a pyrography iron, steel ruler, chalk or heat removeable pens and a wooden board.

-Disclaimer! I generally prefer to use natural fibres for environmental reasons but this project was a stash buster using up old stock. Additionally not everyone can afford silks so please no costume classism in the comments please.
