Tilly + Lola 💛 Yes, these are lab diamonds! I have a lot of thoughts on lab diamonds and whether they’re truly a sustainable option. Truthfully, I don’t believe they’re the best option, but I do believe they are a better alternative to mining a new diamond.

Because of the environmental impact of diamond mining, my preference has always been to work with post-consumer recycled diamonds — stones repurposed from existing jewelry and given new life in a new design. When that isn’t possible, I source traceable stones from mines committed to social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and economic sustainability.

I’ve always believed that the lowest-impact option is to use what already exists within the supply chain. That belief hasn’t changed. But lab diamonds offer a more affordable alternative, and with the rising cost of gold, I wanted to make my designs accessible at a wider range of price points.

As a jewelry designer, I know there’s no perfect solution. My goal has always been to make the most responsible choices I can within an industry that has its flaws, while remaining as transparent as possible along the way.
