The day after we finished shooting this short film, Hailey and Cat left Chiang Mai. I think it won’t be long before I see you again in the United States, Europe, Chiang Mai, and Australia.

Started another long distance motorbiking trip! Day 1 today. This time we will travel for 3 weeks. Y’all, from a distance I thought those goats were a pack of wild dogs preparing to attack us. It was pretty funny when we realized they were goats. Anyways, we never know where we will be sleeping when we start our day. Tonight we ended up in a very small rural town, and we found tofu!! That sound you hear is the house doing karaoke down the street. ❤️ yay!!! Bye! P.S. today Hailey said “most couples would have killed each other by now.” Wow. I think it’s true. No one knows the crazy things we’ve been through over the past 9 months. Or 5 years. I think we’ve lived about 20 lives together already. And I have loved every single day. How did I find you. Well it’s 2:30 am and all the roosters are already crowing so I better go to sleep. by @cat.ion

I watched the waves crash against the rocks below. It could kill me in a few seconds, and thinking about that, I felt more alive than ever. I felt more in love with life than ever. I was totally present. Totally happy. I watched the sun go down like it was the last thing I’d ever see, and I felt thankful to have someone to share all this life with. Later, I watched that same beautiful water dancing with the full moon shining on it. It wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. I smiled because it looked happy too. And it continued on after I left. I was not prepared for how much I loved Busan. I honestly didn’t know anything about it before I got there, so when I saw all the beautiful landmarks, I was like wtf!? I’m in love. We barely know where we’re sleeping on any given night, let alone know where we are. Our first night was pretty weird in this motel, so our first impression was like ummmm what have we gotten ourselves into? But every day after was filled with so many fun surprises and amazing vegan food. Plus we got out first little taste of warm weather one day, and I felt like a brand new person. Before leaving the US, we made some conscious decisions regarding the way we wanted to exist and discover things on this trip, and it’s been absolutely incredible. I’ll describe more later. It’s 1 am, and I’m about to fall asleep, gn!!! taken in Busan, South Korea by @cat.ion

*** The older I get, the freer I feel. -Myungcheol *** For years, I followed amazing tattoo artists from Korea. My for you page was basically all Korean tattoo artists at some points. I dreamed of getting a tattoo from them one day, but I seriously never thought it would actually happen. So in Seoul, I got 7 tattoos over 4 days from some of my favorite artists of all time. And I made a lot of friends along the way. Thank you 🖤🖤🖤 taken in Seoul, South Korea by @cat.ion

Kyoto pt 2: If you have to search for beauty, you won’t know it when you see it. And when you find what you thought you were looking for, you won’t feel satisfied. First, try enjoying your daily commute to work in morning traffic. Or doing the dishes. Now you’re one step closer to enjoying your beautiful life. taken in Kyoto, Japan by @cat.ion

Between our stays in Kyoto, we took a few trips (because everything in Kyoto was at least $150 the weekend of peak cherry blossoms). Anyways, I kind of hit a road block with posting because I wasn’t really ready to share all the bad experiences we had in these small towns. I’m currently in Vietnam, and I really want to get back on track and post in the moment, but thinking about sharing this section of the trip in Japan just simply made me feel anxious because I didn’t know how to share it. Basically, we visited Nara, the land of a million mystical deer, and Uji, the land of Uji matcha tea. We met amazing people in these towns, and we had so many beautiful moments together. But I wouldn’t have gotten through it as well as I did without Hailey by my side. We made the best of every situation- the hardest being that there was absolutely zero vegan food. Fair enough. I get it. So we did some wild things to make food with no kitchen. And then there was the part where if you differ from the strict social code, you will be harassed, kicked out of every bathroom, discriminated against, and publicly shamed. (This has been a theme of the trip!!) Tokyo got my guard down, and then wow, I was punched in the mouth. So I think it’s important to know that outside of Tokyo, some people can be extremely unaccepting and confrontational in Japan. Looking androgynous and having tattoos was what did it for me, but there is a whole long list of things that could put you in the same position I was in. On top of it, I was really hurting from everything going on in the US at that time. Looking back, I think I felt the emotional weight of my friends and queer people who are suffering in the US from all the hateful anti trans bills. You are so freaking amazing, powerful, and loved. by @cat.ion

Being in Kyoto for cherry blossom season was one of the happiest accidents we’ve experienced. We didn’t even know when cherry blossom season was, let alone plan our trip around it. But we ended up in the perfect place. I’m so thankful I got to see this in my lifetime. (1/2) taken in Kyoto, Japan by @cat.ion

Okay lemme tell you about this insanely long, beautiful day that spanned across Hakone, Tokyo, and Kyoto. We got up at 7 am and ate breakfast at this amazing onsen hostel and then went on the most gorgeous hike I’ve ever done. We freaked out a bit at the end because we got kind of lost and the descent took so much longer than expected. We thought we wouldn’t make it back to Tokyo for dinner with our bestie Léa and to catch our night bus to Kyoto. But we ran down and almost kissed the ground when we made it out in the right spot. We headed back and had dinner with Léa and she bought some scissors from the nearest store. Our bus was leaving in 20 minutes, but there’s always time for a drastic haircut. We’re perfecting not caring what anyone thinks. We said our long, sad, (but not final) goodbyes and loaded onto the night bus around 10 pm. Hailey had the idea to buy baby wipes while walking to the bus, and it was smart because we smelled HORRIBLE from the long hike. We used them before attempting, and failing, to fall asleep in the tiny seats. We arrived in Kyoto a little before 6 am and had nowhere to go with our stuff because our check in wasn’t until 3 pm. So we found a covered bench to keep us dry and slept on this hard af wood and concrete park bench for a few hours. I was so sore! We’re still not worrying about what others think. Live your life and be happy! Plus Japan is the safest place in the world. Finally, we went to drop our bags at the hostel and spent the day exploring Kyoto. And we broke down and bought umbrellas after getting drenched. We couldn’t change clothes because we only have one outfit, so it felt so good to take a bath and do laundry that night. by @cat.ion

When you see how big the world is,
you realize how each friendship
and each person you meet
is so precious.
How each encounter
is absurdly unlikely.
Maybe it all happens for a reason
or maybe you’re just so lucky
to live your little random life
and to feel your heart swell
from accepting the pieces of life
others give to you.
To almost cry tears of gratitude
at the notion that
others choose you
as well.
It’s good to keep feeling small.
It's good to keep seeing the miracles
happening around you
all the time.
Just your very existence is miraculous.
It’s good to remember how rare your life is
and how each person you meet
is one in a multibillion.
I’m glad I met you,
you make me feel lucky, and
I love you. by @cat.ion
