Momma and I chatted on landlines, bag phones, flip phones, and BlackBerries. Later, Apple made things easier and more complicated depending if you were asking Connie Rose or me. She'd not answer, mistakenly dial or hang up mid story, or accidentally FaceTime me unaware. Thankfully the need for an iPhone and the distance between us shrank in such a way that to chat I only needed to manage my flight of stairs to her basement apartment in our shared home. 💕💕 by @catalanoscrib

Summer. In the south-where public school begins in August-the weeks quip goodbye too quickly. Our temperatures, however, speak a different language and pant, "Carry on..."

Girl Days of Summer
We needed a solid beach nap or three, "free" mangoes, discarded treasures, cheap wasabi, girl talk, trees to climb, people to research, a checkers hot dog, art to dissect, plans to disregard, dumb rom-coms to fall asleep too, tear induced laughter, books to not read, fried shrimp and grouper, and warm blue water to loaf in. Another run away for the books; this one made complete with monkeys, getting lost in a CIRCLE, snakes, and jellyfish eggs. I love you so much and am grateful for this tradition and the one girl God knew we would all need. by @catalanoscrib

Class of 2026!
May has been a blur of planning, ceremonies, and parties, and I am beyond grateful for it and the two fellas we've been able to celebrate. Regardless of Sy's minimizing the event ("Mom, it's just high school—and literally the law to go.") or Caden's dual huge life events (career and wedding planning), I wanted to make sure their accomplishments found a permanent square in my chronicles.
We prayed we could help aim our kiddos to understand God's love, have agency, free will, confidence, personal responsibility, curiosity, and a teachable spirit; I am so proud of these two for the way they've walked in that direction individually. They are men who have worked hard, have worked smart, and thankfully had fun along the way. They love big, pause to consider the underdog, give generously, and desire for those around them to understand Jesus's love. I've watched them both stall and fly and ultimately find THEIR pace.
The internet sure isn't lacking the emotional post of a Momma bemoaning the agony of cutting apron strings or the pain of letting "her baby" go...and though I agree parenting is guttural, forever, and heart-quaking...I applaud and stand humbled at their growing and GOING!
My boys will expand and love and leave, and I never want to minimize the rightness or beauty of any of that growth because of what was or how simple and small I sometimes wish them to be.
Yes it's hard, but I hope them to now need me less and lean on the Spirit most. I want for their lives to GO, be missional and forgiving, free from fear, stagnation, or shame. I hope they draw nearer to others they have been gifted to love and lay hold of adventures they've dreamed of taking. I hope their lives are bigger and even more beautiful than mine and their days to be full of their own managing. I pray they have peace and confidence to know no space, pause, distance, or delay in their proximity to us changes our love, pride, or prayers. Their launching was always the grand point, and my letting go was always the slow process. Boys, I love you both so much and am so grateful I have gotten to have the best seat in the house to watch you both GROW and learn. by @catalanoscrib

Of the 5 million conversations I pray and intercede for my children, a constant plea to God has been that if my babies would one day desire marriage, He'd prepare them and lead them to a spouse who'd love selflessly from a well full of God's truth and kindness. I've prayed for marriage to be understood soberly and not idolized but rather seen through the lens of what God says it can be-should be-is: yielded, lasting, and so very good.
And here we are again. 🥹💕💍
Gosh I love Sara...she is determined, joy-filled, hard-working, sensitive, free...she's a MASSIVE spark of light in Caden's world. But best and foremost, she's a woman who desires to know Jesus and roots her identity in who God says she is. Full wells love fully. 💕
