Tania El Khoury – As Far As My Fingertips Take Me

🫧As Far As My Fingertips Take Me is an intimate one-to-one encounter through a gallery wall between an audience member and a refugee. Without seeing each other, their arms touch. While the audience member listens to stories of those who have recently challenged border discrimination, the refugee marks the stories on the audience member’s arm by drawing.

The work is created by artist Tania El Khoury and performed by musician and artist Basel Zaraa.

📍Kiasma Theatre's foyer
🗓November 6th 12–16:30 & 7th 10:15–14:45 & 8th 12–16:30

The performance is for one audience member at a time. Book your own slot and arrive to the venue on time. We warmly welcome you to take part in this significant piece of work💙

How free are we really to create, share and express ourselves?

In a democratic society that values freedom of expression, artists can encounter visible and invisible boundaries. Funding, institutions, public pressure, censorship, self-censorship and cultural expectations can all shape what gets created, exhibited and discussed.

This November, we invite you to join the conversation.

SILENT BOUNDARIES: Freedom of Cultural Expression and Art as its Indicator brings together artists and cultural professionals, researchers, policymakers, curators, journalists and the wider public to explore artistic freedom and cultural expression in Finland.

📅 5 November 2026
 🕑 14:00–17:00
 📍 Uniarts Auditorium, Helsinki

Organised by TIAN, Catalysti, Think Africa and Globe Art Point.

🎟️ Registration is now open. Link in bio.

Come and be part of the conversation.

Cinema and poetry share a profound bond. To celebrate that link, we’re joining forces with Helsinki Poetry Connection and Catalysti for an open stage event at Kino Konepaja. And what better day to do it than Saturday 10th October — Finnish Literature Day! 🪨✨

The programme brings together poetry in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Indigenous languages, hosted by Daniel Malpikka & Vinski Valos.

Come spend the evening with us for poetry films, spoken word, DJ music, drinks, snacks, and — of course — wonderful poetic company. ☁️👁️

The event is free, but for the poetry video screenings we recommend you still book your seats through Fienta webshop (link in bio). We’d love to see you there! by @catalysti_finland

This month at Konepaja Spoken Word ✨

Organised by Helsinki Poetry Connection ry @hpc_ry and produced by @vinskivalos , Konepaja Spoken Word is an English-language open stage and community that Catalysti @catalysti_finland is happy to support through our ongoing collaboration.

This edition brought together around 100–150 people and more than ten performers, from experienced spoken-word artists to people taking the stage for the first time. What stood out was the genuinely intergenerational audience and the supportive atmosphere around experimentation, self-expression and vulnerability.

The format is simple and welcoming: each evening has an optional thematic prompt, performances can take different forms and languages, and participation is free whether you want to perform or simply come and listen.

This month’s theme, “Settings / Environments,” was particularly fitting as KSW recently moved to its new home at @tahtisalit , creating more room for this growing community to gather. And after the last poem, Jean-Philippe Payette @jeanphilippepayette kept the evening going with music for the afters. 🎶

Follow Helsinki Poetry Connection ry @hpc_ry for upcoming events and open-stage opportunities, or subscribe to the Catalysti @catalysti_finland newsletter 💌
