When a show closes, the ideas don’t have to leave with it. These three new arrivals carry works first seen in our galleries onto the page, to be read slowly, revisited, and kept close long after the walls are reinstated.

Swipe to see what’s new: a process zine, a limited artist edition, and an exhibition publication.

Now available at the Objectifs Store, in person and online.

Huijun Lu: backswing

A machine that fits in your pocket and only moves when you make it.

Backswing is a flipbook capturing the movements of a makeshift machine. Brush your thumb across the pages to set them in motion, forwards or backwards, fast or slow.

A small interaction that turns a stack of still images into movement, and the mechanical into something unexpectedly playful.

Flip it. Reverse it. Replay it.

Available at The Collectible Experience 2

Huijun Lu moves between roles the way her practice moves between mediums — as an artist, and as the curator behind our recent exhibition, entanglements. Ask her about that duality and she’ll tell you it comes down to imagining ourselves as organisms in an environment, building interdependent networks to sustain an evolving ecosystem.

It’s a fitting lens for a show built on exactly that premise. Swipe through for her thoughts on space, artist-curator relationships, and what it means to meet artists where they are.

Her night-time field recording workshop on 22 Aug is fully booked, but there’s more to explore. Head to our bio for the rest of entanglements’ programme, including talks and workshops running through to 30 Aug.

Huijun Lu is a Singaporean interdisciplinary artist working across art, music, engineering, and computing. Lu’s practice combines kinetic sculpture, installation, moving image, and sound to investigate the relationships between technology, perception, and the built environment.

Designing and constructing the artist’s own mechanical systems, electronic circuits, and software, Lu creates works that reveal overlooked behaviours within everyday objects and environments. Huijun’s practice examines how technology mediates human experience, questioning the functions, limitations, and poetic possibilities of machines.

Lu has presented solo exhibitions including susurration (Queensway Television, 2025), approximations (dblspce, 2023), and loop / pool (Esplanade, 2022). Huijun’s work has also been exhibited internationally across Germany, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Recent residencies include Taipei Treasure Hill Artist Village (2025), Zaratan Arte Contemporânea, Portugal (2025), and the Singapore Art Museum (2024). The artist’s practice continues to bridge engineering and artistic inquiry, producing immersive installations that invite audiences to reconsider their relationships with technology and their surroundings.

Stay tuned to see what merch Huijun will be presenting with TCE2.0! ✨ taken in Singapore by @catastropheeyes

Opening weekend for entanglements moved between conversation and observation, beginning with opening night on Friday, and on Saturday, an artist talk on man-made nature and plant intelligence with Huijun Lu, PG Lee, Rusydan Norr and guest Tiffany Lay, followed by a slow walk attending to the trees around Objectifs with Isa Pengskul.

The exhibition continues to sit with the idea that nature and technology aren’t opposites but collaborators — plant systems, human bodies and sensorial technologies held together across works by Victoria Hertel, PG Lee, Huijun Lu, Rusydan Norr and Woong Soak Teng.

Two more programmes ahead: Nocturnes, a night-time field recording workshop with Huijun Lu on 22 Aug, an artist talk about bodily technologies, sensorial perception and rituals with Victoria Hertel, Woong Soak Teng and guest Fajrina Razak, followed by a publication launch on 29 Aug.

An upcoming exhibition curated by Huijun Lu is built on the belief that nature and technology were never separate, but intertwined. Across talks, workshops and field sessions, dive into plant intelligence, night-time soundscapes, bodily technologies and more with artists Victoria Hertel, PG Lee, Huijun Lu, Rusydan Norr and Woong Soak Teng.

The exhibition opens on 31 July, with programmes spanning across one month. Swipe for the full programme line-up, and register your interest early in our link in bio! 🌱

Who decides what’s a weed and what’s worth cultivating? PG Lee, Huijun Lu and Rusydan Norr, joined by Tiffany Lay of Taiwanese artist duo Weed Day, discuss plant intelligence, urban ecosystems and the politics of care. RSVP at entanglements-talk-1.peatix.com.

This is NOT a gardening workshop, but a space for learning how to be a good assistant to trees.

Building on artist Isa Pengskul’s prior work Tree Conference, which gathered heritage trees in far corners of Singapore through video call, participants will assist trees around Objectifs to mingle and enjoy tree conversations. RSVP at entanglements-tree-listening.peatix.com.

Some things only reveal themselves after dark. Artist and curator Huijun Lu leads a night-time field recording session, tuning participants into the soundscape where natural and man-made noise meet. RSVP now at entanglements-field-record.peatix.com.

Technology reshapes how we sense our own bodies. Victoria Hertel and Woong Soak Teng, joined by Fajrina Razak, unpack works exploring augmented sensitivity and how ritual offers a way back to natural rhythms. RSVP at entanglements-talk-2.peatix.com.

The exhibition closes with the stories behind the works. Join us for the launch of entanglements, the accompanying publication featuring a curatorial essay, artist interviews and guest contributions — plus a final walk-through with the artists. Copies available for purchase, light bites served. RSVP at entanglements-publication.peatix.com. by @catastropheeyes

This July, Objectifs makes space for many ways of seeing.

ART:DIS brings two programmes: an Artist-in-Training exhibition featuring 34 aspiring artists, and the return of Pocket Fest, celebrating artists with disabilities. Over at the Junior Lab, Sunaina Bhalla opens her studio to share The Saree Project in progress, ahead of a fuller exhibition opening in Baltimore this September.

Later in the month, two more shows open: CURIO, Rainbow Centre’s biennial showcase of over 45 artworks by 13 young artists with disabilities, and entanglements, curated by Huijun Lu, with works by PG Lee, Rusydan Norr, Victoria Hertel and Woong Soak Teng.

Back for its second edition, ART:DIS’s Pocket Fest returns from 4–5 July at Objectifs with inclusive workshops, performances, activities and exhibitions for people of all ages and abilities to create, learn and connect. The festival showcases the creativity of more than 50 artists with disabilities, sharing their talents and stories with the wider community.

Curated by Hazel Lim, the exhibition draws inspiration from the unseen registers of human perception — the vibrations, pitches, and signals that typically lie beyond our awareness. Guided by experienced tutors through exploratory processes, 34 aspiring artists translate their deeply personal lived experiences and inner worlds into visual form.

In The Saree Project, Sunaina Bhalla transforms heirloom sarees through stitching, folding, shrinking, and unraveling to question the social expectations placed on women’s bodies. Sunaina was an artist-in-residence at Objectifs in 2022, and exhibited her work ‘Sharps and Such’ at our 2023 Women in Film & Photography exhibition. This open studio offers a preview of a larger exhibition of The Saree Project, which will open in Baltimore, USA, in September 2026.

CURIO, a biennial art fundraiser showcase organised by Rainbow Centre in celebration of youth and inclusion, is back. Presented by UOL, this year’s edition, CURIO: Beyond the Frame, showcases over 45 unique artworks created by 13 youths with disabilities. Various programmes accompany the showcase, including weekend guided tours, weekday learning journeys, workshops and discussions taken in Objectifs - Centre for Photography and Film by @catastropheeyes

Stoked to share an upcoming project, opening at the end of July :) Grateful to the talented artists who have offered their openness and time to develop the works and programmes for the exhibition, and to @objectifscentre for providing a platform for it to come into being.

Hope to see you there!

𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 stems from the belief that nature and technology are not discrete entities, but rather deeply entwined. Technology is often seen as dominating our natural environment, through rapid processes of extraction or destruction. Simultaneously, the same tools can aid in restoring connection, appreciating slowness and understanding environmental complexity. The natural world also has much to teach us about interdependence, systems and care. This entanglement is inevitable, and we are already in the centre of it.

Across a range of mediums, works by Victoria Hertel, PG Lee, Huijun Lu, Rusydan Norr and Woong Soak Teng examine plant systems, human bodies, synthetic materials and sensorial technologies, with natural and man-made systems coming together as collaborators and co-conspirators.

The exhibition is also accompanied by workshops with Huijun Lu and Isa Pengskul and artist talks joined by Tiffany Lay (of artist duo Weed Day) and Fajrina Razak.
