POSTS STORIES REELS

This was a very difficult post for me to write, but ultimately it was also healing and therapeutic. Our beloved Catbird came to her earthly end about two weeks ago. If you have followed her story with us, you might recall that this was our third summer with her. Please click the link in my bio if you care to read my newly published essay tribute to her ("Catbird Life Lessons: A Legacy of Truth, Beauty, and Eternal Connection") on my web blog, catbirdlife.com @catbird.life

Experiencing the sweeping drama of an October hailstorm in Great Sand Dunes National Park was epic!

The community of Indiana, Pennsylvania is deeply fortunate to have several hundred acres of mature forest preserved nearby as White's Woods Nature Center--our very own 'near woods'. Today we spent most of the afternoon there and found a secluded spot to read, work, and contemplate the miraculous beauty of our natural world. I wish every community had such a wonderful place of serene respite so close by.

✨️ It was a rainy October day, but Telluride, Colorado still felt like a magical, elvish place straight out of Tolkien lore. Farewell, enchanting town. Hope to be back someday.

We just got home after spending eleven glorious days immersed in the astounding beauty of October in Colorado. Here's the view from the little cabin we rented along Maroon Creek near the Maroon Bells outside of Aspen. Hope you enjoy the peaceful beauty of this idyllic place.

💛🌞 Greetings from Colorado! We've always wondered what the Rocky Mountains are like in October when the aspens and lower elevation cottonwoods turn gold, and experiencing it firsthand this past week has exceeded all of our wildest imaginings. I took these images at Rocky Mountain National Park, the Maroon Bells near Aspen, and in the San Juan Mountains near Ouray and at every turn, we were astounded at the golgen slendor and overwhelming beauty. On our way home soon, and lots more awe-inspiring images to come.

Yes, wasps can be both gentle and cute! Meet the Smiling Mason Wasp, Ancistrocerus campestris. Like 95% of wasps, the Smiling Mason Wasp is a docile solitary nesting wasp and is never aggressive. They feed their larvae caterpillars and as adults primarily feed on nectar and pollen.
