Nothing like taking care of the neighbors 🤙

We had the girls from Shrimpers out for a day offshore and the fish cooperated — a sailfish, mahi and a few tunas made for a pretty solid day on the water.

As your Martin County Commissioner, what happened to our inlet during the recent ICW dredging operation, will not happen again. According to Mark Perry from @floridaoceanographic, the project was not permitted using MPDES like in past operations, nor was turbidity properly monitored. Silt billowing down onto Bathtub and near shore reefs was repeatedly documented by local captains and Scott Butler with drone footage for weeks. And disappointingly, instead of speaking up at any point during that operation, Commissioners waited until it was over and used an Army Corps presentation for political cover. Instead of taking responsibility, pointing out what went wrong and correcting the mistake for the future, they chose to accuse residents who documented what happened of spreading misinformation. Thank you to Mark Perry for actually representing our interests, protecting our natural environment and setting the record straight during public comment. That’s what courage and real leadership looks like. by @catchofthedaycharters

Blue marlin on 30lb fluorocarbon yesterday out of Stuart… but that wasn’t even the craziest part.

Right after the hookup BOTH motors started overheating.
Dead in the water with a blue marlin dumping line.

While Basil stayed locked in on the fish for nearly an hour, we were in the engine room reprimeing motors, trying to get everything fired back up before we lost her. Somehow got both motors running again, got back in the fight, and finished the job with a clean release. Epic Birthday present for our First Mate @bazill__a Second blue marlin for us in 7 months here out of Stuart.

Absolute chaos from start to finish.
The kind of day that reminds you this is more than just fishing.

Some real captain shit.
